ZOA is also fun in Drambo!

Here’s how to set it up:

Go to the MAIN track and insert ZOA before the #1 track (see beginning of video)

Then, while still on the MAIN track view, tap the MIDI connector on Track 1, and you’ll see all of ZOA’s MIDI outputs appear. Select ‘Out 1’. (ZOA will now send MIDi to track #1).

Repeat this process for tracks 1 - 4

in this demonstration, I have ZOA’s octave control mapped to a graphic modulator

If I’m not mistaken, one could use multiple instances of ZOA here for more than 4 tracks.

  • Btw, I’m taking the midi from the main midi out (all 4 combined) and sending it to Drum Computer for the drum track.

First night with this sequencer and I’m loving it!

  • I love ZOA, too bad I can’t get my head around Drambo yet.
    This really sounds great.

    Thanks!

Honestly, if you can get your head around ZOA, Drambo shouldn’t be too difficult. The beautiful thing about Drambo, is that it’ll always only be as complicated as you make it. You don’t have to learn how to use everything in it to make music. In this example, I’m only using Drambo at its most basic level. ZOA is doing all the work, really.

  • Nice work ED! And thanks for the explanation. I really would like to get into drambo more as the new update looks wonderful.

    Nice! :)

    Thanks Ulf!

I do suppose there's only so much credit one could take when using an app like this that picks the notes for you. Super fun and inspiring though!

Yeah I was thinking along those lines as well but then again - you do choose sounds and harmonies and in mine every sound was my own preset, from plug-in to synths so a little credit is alright, I think :D :D

  • Nice! I like how it builds up. I can hear this as an intro to larger, complex composition. I agree that you might not like having an app pick the notes, but I think of it as hiring a session player, where you make the final decision. I just picked up ZOA this weekend and your production notes are very helpful. Thanks!

Thanks Paul. ZOA is quite interesting when you start really digging into it. You are picking the scale, and once he updates it and fixes the multiple AU state save thing, I think this will be amazing for all kinds of wild compositions.

After playing with it for a couple days now, I realize it’s a little more than first meets the eye, especially when you start incorporating the pattern tool.
