Another great edition of the iMPC Pro Log. Can't wait for the Halloween and Christmas episodes leading up to the season finale when the actual app finally comes out.

Hahaha
wow
Cool, the next episode is about the volume knob. I think is an special episode of 1 hour
Yes too much teasing! I have Tabletop and hope this integrates like iMPC does into Tabletop as don't really want to pay for all the effect add ons again like Boom Room etc just to use effects in the Pro version. IAA effects we like automation we like, I bet it processor intensive if you have a lot going on. Time will tell but how long? No more videos just release it please.
This at least gives me more hope that they'll add IAA effect device for Tabletop.

Lol, yep! Turbo Duck also learns a very important lesson about friendship and the perils of over compression.
Song started to sound good when @holdernessmedia was added to the mix. -1 for not saying the name though!
@syrupcore we are lucky that he show you the interface of Swoopster, I have think he don't popup to it

Spoiler alert-
-you can turn the volume both higher AND lower! It's going to be a very special episode, that's for sure.
Be the knob.
I was sold at the first video - everything else is pain, but nice pain. This looks such a cool and well designed app. Also, according to the latest timescale update a few days ago I wouldn't expect it to be too much longer to wait but not days, several weeks at best - maybe!!

I feel like they have to be charging $20, minimum, for this app, to put such drawn out effort at making somewhat ordinary features look more impressive. Not just the weekly videos, but the fact that it's not just compression, it's compression represented by an animated rubber duck. Or it's not just reverb, it's reverb controlled by how far you zoom in on the Terracotta warrior's face.
Not being critical of the app necessarily, it could be quite good, and could very well be worth whatever they charge for it if it is. But my guard is up a bit.
Yep, they could have spared themselves the eye candy gimmicks of buddhas and ducks. Was it me or were there clicks and pops when he was messing with reverb knob? This happened before in one of the previous pro logs. It is not ipad air he is using, well i hope it is 3 rather than 4 otherwise there may be ram/cpu problems for all of us.
As for the price i expect it to be quite low but they may be charging for the plugins like in tabletop? After all thats where the boom room fx comes from.
It will be embarrassing for them if their "Summer of Awesome" turns out to take place in Autumn.
I'm more excited about the other 2 things they are teasing.

Lol that tickled me..
my guards up too, no one over there has responded to whether the sidechain comp works as it should or just ducks the whole app globally , and I firmly believe that they are going to go over the $20 mark and I want to suggest to them if they're reading this thread that they don't go over $10 unless they drop the ethos of the first impc all together and really make this app work as expected. You know it was native instruments that started this kind of thing where they basically said I won't give you what you need but I'll give you something else that you need, or I won't make it work as it is universally understood but I'll give you 5 free sample packs or some other esoteric feature instead.
I really don't like this way of thinking and I really hope retronyms puts back any pages they've taken out of the native instruments playbook for maschine.
I see a lot of Retronyms directed comments. Should they be directed at Akai? I mean, is this a Retronyms app or an Akai app that Retronyms is building? Are they partners? Anyone know?
I get that everyone wants this to be a full featured MPC (and similar for iMaschine) but if I were Akai or NI and my business model was still tied up in selling expensive hardware and/or software, I wouldn't be making $20 full versions of them unless there was proof I wouldn't have to lay off half my staff.
If Akai and N.I. adopt that strategy they will meet a similar fate as the Lemur.
I think the cat was let out of the proverbial bag when Beatmaker 2 arrived. Checkout these comments from veteran MPC users:

... Anyhow, no sound degradation @ all. THE MPC IS ON LIFE SUPPORT... beep, beep, beep... I ... cuz I compared BM2 and N.S. with my boys MPC 4000 yesterday and he was blown away @ the SAME FEATURES AND SOME EVEN BETTER ONES!!! Using BeatMaker 2, you can build your own virtual home-studio ...
there is quite a difference between the mpc-4000 and bm2 or nanostudio, it might be better to look up and post a feature/spec sheet of the apps and the mpc-4000 rather than post of the well meaning but ill informed imho, and them even mentioning the impc in the comparison was just funny.
Are you doubting Oprah?

Of course the comparisons are hyperbole. Which makes it all the more perplexing that Native Instruments and (too a lesser extent) Akai would feel that IOS apps. would present a threat to their hardware sales.
I remember using a korg d16 digital multitracker when many people around me were already on PCs. I thought: well, I like my little puppy and kept staring at that tiny monochrome LCD. Now I would never go back to editing on a small screen, it just feels like regression. So yes MPC 4000 looks like a great machine but the screen looks like a bottleneck to me. I wouldn't like to be checking my email or read this forum on it.
Anyway, ipad with a good midi controller sounds like a better idea than that beast but that's just me.
You can hook a 4k up to a computer with the ak.sys software for a full screen monitor.
I think there's a lot to be said for dedicated hardware (good pads, pro I/O, blah blah out of the box) and dedicated purposeful UI (in regards to both the screen and the buttons/menus...).
I'm not going to run out and an MPC anytime soon but I still like dedicated musical hardware for lots of reasons and not being able to check my email is one of them.
As i understand it retronyms are just the hired hands of akai (inmusic) to do the port to ios.
What i have always in the back of my mind is: arturia went to retronyms to do the imini for them on ios and then arturia went to rolf to do the isem for them, so I guess they weren't happy with retronyms and what they did with the imini (i guess arturia thought we are stupid if we don't dance on the bus ...)

I used to have a MV8800 with a mouse and 20in LCD connected to it. It was cool, but took up a lot of space. Dedicated hardware is really cool for base/studio use. However, once I switched to hybrid systems (Maschine and MPC Studio) I didn't miss the MV8800. With hybrid systems you get the advantages of hardware and software with much more power and flexibility. When hooked up to a laptop it is just as immediate as hardware. I do all of my emailing. social networking, etc. on a separate computer.
totally agree except on maschine, that thing is a big step backwards from the mv8800 and the mpc.
What the duck was that?
