“SWAM Essentials Bundle” - Which instruments would you include?
If you were creating a SWAM “Essentials Bundle,” which instruments would you include?
Trying to figure out a reasonable set of core instruments.
(Note that I’m making this up. There is no real “Essentials Bundle.”)
Comments
I feel like I would set it up as “SWAM Essential Brass”, “SWAM Essential Woodwinds” and SWAM strings. “Essential” depends too much on playing style.
I suppose you could go by genre. A jazz bundle could have double bass, baritone sax (or tenor), clarinet and trumpet for example.
Depends greatly on your purpose and interest. I care not at all about verisimilitude; I just want an expressive solo instrument. My personal favorites are flugelhorn, pocket trumpet, and bass flute. I tend to use a lot of delay and saturation, and sometimes double SWAM with Shockwave.
I wish they had a best of bundle that be awesome.
Trumpet
Trombone
Bass Trombone
Baritone Sax
Tenor Sax
Alto Sax
How many are there now? hmm, 33 total. At 33% off comes to $660.
So you can save $330 if you act NOW. What are you waiting for?
(My social security check and a birthday card from Grandma.)
I like the ones that make great solo instruments...
Flugelhorn because it can also play in German at no extra cost.
Bass Trombone because you get the lower notes and it can go as high as the regular trombone for the same amount of money. It's a bit darker than the tenor but that's works for my dark soul.
French Horn(F)... it's cool to get an F in some subjects.
Euphonium because you passed on the tenor trombone and all the notes come out of the top of the iPad and not in your face.
Piccolo Trumpet fits in your pocket and tickles when you play it from there.
Bass tuba (see bass trombone)
Bass Flute (see Bass Tuba)
Double Bass... double your bass response!
Oboe... almost the same spelled backwards... I just think E-obo since it's an app.
Contrabassoon because it's everything the bassoon isn't... and more bass notes
Piccolo (see Piccolo Trumpet... fun fact... they are NOT related)
Cello - impressive figure and it fits between your knees... lower notes too.
Violin for extra mobility and you can tuck it under your chin or play it like a Cello
14 essential SWAM apps for $280.
NOTE: I own about 6 or these. Don't make me look. That's still $120.
I'm trying to decide between bass clarinet and contrabassoon for my next one.
I'm a sucker for a double reed, myself: Oboe, English Horn, Bassoon, Contrabassoon and
duck call. The SWAM Duck Call was rejected by quality control... a beta tester was out on a lake and was shot by a hunter. Sad case.
Tough call. I do really like the contrabassoon
