MixBox CS vs ToneStack PRO

Hello everyone.

I have been using ToneStack PRO for a while with my electric guitar. The app has AUV3 support and lots of FX units in it.

MixBox CS has been very popular recently. I have tried IK Multimedia’s Amplitube before because I bought Irig HD2 but unfortunately I didn’t like the app as much as Bias FX2 and then removed it. Bias FX2 still has not a AUV3 support yet by the way (most probably it won’t).

I am not quite sure about it, but as I see, MixBox CS offers mainly guitar effects for different voices, synths, guitars etc. Am I right? If so, the question is: what MixBox CS offers better than ToneStack PRO? Or are they for completely different usages?

Thanks in advance.

  • The results are different. They both sound very different. They’re only somewhat similar because of the mix of effects they offer.

Important question is, what are you missing in Tonestack that makes you wonder about other options… are you looking for better audio quality/fidelity, different/better emulations of gear, different UI or ease of use, something for more than just guitars, something for mixing and mastering projects, something simpler, or a shiny new toy? What type of music do you play/make? Knowing this will help people give you their best advice.
