i know there are some sequencer AU drum apps out there. but most are 808 909 type variations but what are some good AU drum apps where I can finger drum some nice heavy drums. like industrial or heavy hard hitting rock drums?

koala doesn't have velocity pads tho

The only one I have with "real" drums loaded in from factory is NanoStudio 2

It's a AU host, not plugin it has at least an option of having one giant pad that's velocity sensitive.

you can use koala as velocity sensitive with a controller, like this:

GrooveRider GR-16 also has pad sensitivity, both vertical and radial

You’re welcome! I forget sometimes myself. Koala workflow is gold 🤩

  • There is always Xequence AU Pads app, then play whatever app you want. Comes with a decent amount of presets mapped to popular drum apps.

  • I might have something interesting in the pipeline for this :)

    Sds-x is fantastic at this.
    Very low latency setting.
    Really playable and nice sounds.
And sure,Drum session by blue mango!
    My favourite.

A lot closer than I expected, I’ll probably put some details and feedback requests in a separate post soon.

I use Akai MPD 218 as a controller into AU for Koala and TS909. TBH, the MPD into BeatMaker3 kits is the most fun with finger drumming, although I’m not generally that crazy about the app.

Xequence AU Pads is a nice and very configurable way of triggering other drum apps. It works very well, and has the advantage that you can make your own layouts. So, you could set up a pad grid the way you want, then change the notes that the pads send according to which drum app you want to make noise with.

This approach is nice because who always wants to stick to just one drum app?

    Just a thought.

Another vote for koala. Best app on mobile imo.

Cool. Will see if theres acoustic drum kits via midi. Just thought gaining 8 buttons in Drambo were a bit OTT for buying a launchpad x and stand. Especially also, with a volca drum lol. With its parameters. Will see what the drambo update is like. Might use knobs for additional parameters. Might spare another scene for garageband.

That’s exciting news, still use (and love) Drumjam and Thumbjam regularly

  • Just thought id say. After doing the research. The gravity stand is cool for launchpad. Super sturdy. Like even a stand with no joints wouldnt really be sturdier and the panel for the launchpad is almost exactly the same size as launchpad.

  • Cool. Garageband drums out to another aum/ipad with audio4c. Deck. Loopy will be cool.

I wonder why MoForte hasn't created a general MIDI drum controller setting in the app? Or maybe they should create their own drum kit/drum machine app? I think they'd do a pretty great job of it.

Imagine being able to play African talking drums using their interface!

This is one of the percussion instruments that is hard to find good samples of.

If you have any links to any that would be cool.

    In regards to finger drumming?
As long as they are mapped out then it's quite
straightforward playing them using a Launchpad.
Using a touch screen doesn't give quite the same feedback.

I use the LP X straight into either Beathawk and BM3 namely
because I had kits already laid out for both apps.

I had picked up tablas and darbuka (wrongly labelled djembe) via the BM3 forum ages
ago and I had found them a bit sterile playing them using the touchscreen.
They groove much, much better using the LP X.

Right bro. I went from thinking id bought launchpad for nothing. When I just had a Drambo kit ( Thanks branis )

To like yes. This is why I would have bought music stuff. A decade + ago. Obviously I hadnt bought stuff then.

I found some more kits ( garageband )
