Apple Magic keyboard for iPad Pro $106 off on Amazon

I was just about to order the Logitech combo touch for my upcoming I pad Pro M1 12.9 but now this . The Logitech has the built in case and the number keys but I do like the magic keyboard a lot too. Also on the Logitech the tablet part of the case is detachable from the keyboard . What say you all? @ipadbeatmaking , I mean you lol since you actually were about to trade in your magic keyboard for the Logitech . The magic keyboard is $250 now, shipped

The “floating” magic keyboard cover for made by Apple for the new M1 iPad Pros also allows a person to simply detach the iPad. It is magnetically attached. It’s really nice, but it is a bit more costly.

Yes you’re right but the Logitech allows you to detach the tablet while still protected.

  • @Telstar5 are u in the states? I’m seeing a January delivery date, is this true for you also?

  • @Telstar5 Both of them have unique use cases which is why i use them both. The logitech has beautiful protection around the ipad, but is a bit weak around the speaker ports, leading to the possibility of warping. Also, the baseus (corner hub that attaches to the ipad) wont work with the logitech. The detachable keyboard is great, and being able to have it ‘apple pencil ready’ by tilting it down is great, something you cant do with the magic keyboard case. With the keyboard connected, it IS NOT very ‘lap-able’ if that matters to you. You’ll need to be a desk for the most part with the keys. ALSO, you get an extra row of keys along the top for search, volume, brightness, lock screen, play/pause, rewind etc. The trackpad is also much bigger, and IMO better. I enjoy the fabric material of the logitech, it doesn’t need to be babied at all.

The magic keyboard case has the extra charging port which is clutch, as well as the ability to work with different hubs and connection systems (pitaka for instance) which makes it incredibly versatile when paired with these accessories. You’ll loose all that wonderful side/drop? Protection however, and there’s no way to get it back (cover buddy is junk, but maybe prevents light scratching). The magic keyboard case is incredibly ‘lapable’ and has a smaller footprint overall. You don’t get as many tilt angles as a consequence, but some may feel it’s worth the tradeoff.

  • @Telstar5 heres the system I was talking about:

I like the possibilities with it. All done via magnets 🧲

Lol Possibly. The ‘!’ In Pita! makes sense now. Consider yourself warned.

  • Magic keyboard is pretty heavy too, it makes my wife’s 12” iPad heavier than her laptop.

@ipadbeatmaking : Wow , that’s awesome , I never knew that existed ! I’d order that right now but I’m a little concerned about the missing top row keys on the Magic Keyboard. Has that been a problem with you while using Cubasis ? Also look what I found to make your Logitech more lap friendly .

Marquis Brownlee said in his review that it was to offset the initial top heaviness of the setup

  • Oh I get it, just pointing it out for people who may be thinking about getting one and weren’t aware of the weight. It’s a really nice keyboard for the iPad, I was just surprised at how heavy it makes the combo. My wife bought it for traveling but mostly leaves it home because of that.

    Great minds, my dude.

  • I just ordered the pataka combon

  • At that price I hope it lasts longer than the previous Apple magnetic keyboard for the older Apple Pro! Mine now has a useless keypad and I get messages about the iPad not supporting it! Yes, I have tried cleaning the contacts. I guess it must be a design flaw with all the bending of the “hinge” back and forth.

I guess it’s a good thing I bought a two year extend warranty for $40 usd. Thanks for the warning ! Wait but that wasn’t the “magic keyboard” was it ?

No, not the Magic one, iPad Pro 2018 11in so not as expensive as the Magic one but not cheap either! 3 years old so Apple must have built in obsolescence I guess.

  • They say if you can't say something good don't say it at all but im sorry..... :-(

    I still just can't get behind the idea of a $300 keyboard. Even a $200.... Even a $150....

I come from a period where a keyboard is about expanding and giving you the ultimate level of control of a device, and even with the shortcuts, it's still pairing to a compacted OS.

It is one of the items Apple sells which still sit in that way overpriced category for me. Even if ppl glow about its 'experience'. Honestly I'm not even sure what that means.. we've been to the depths of what a keyboard 'experience' is, because we've had them for decades. And I won't suddenly hand over hundreds just because the experience is 'decent'. Ppl seem to applaud the design, but how hard can it be anyway? Make solid keys, make it magnetic, the word magic in the case of the keyboard is the highest stretch of the term to date imo.

I think we are just at a point where ppl are idealising the iPad in such a wishful way that we're willing to pay for a glimpse of their future direction. When all along, we know how both predictable, and unpredictable they can be with design decisions. Honestly we don't have a dent on their decisions.
