POLY 2 - Generative Polyrhythmic Sequencing - Tutorial for the iPad

POLY 2 Sequencer has been out for a while now but is still a really nice way to generate music.
Loads of great features, tons of included samples, or you can import your own.
You can also use it in AUv3 mode and have it control up to eight of your synths however you wish.
Definitely a very Cool Beans App.

  • Thanks for this Doug, I discovered this app about a month ago and after watching your video last night I have learned quite a few new things so 👍

Yep, Doug... apps like these will greatly benefit from Lumbeats new 'Groove Lock' thingy. One can only imagine 'Send To' Poly 2 from my LB's Future Drummer.

    Thanks..

  • There’s been a new update you can now just drag and drop samples into it… mega convenient!

  • Nice! I've been meaning to revisit this.

  • Good to see drag and drop sample capabilities coming to Poly 2

  • Is it possible to trigger the scenes by pushing corresponding keys on a midi controller?

If by scene, you mean patterns, program change commands work. As an AU, patterns can be changed using AU parameter changes. In a host like AUM or Loopy Pro or Audiobus you could also map an incoming midi event to change the preset. Or you could use a midi utility to convert notes to program change commands.

Thanks for you reply. Basically I want to trigger the patterns by pushing a key, and thus record a song in f.e. Drambo, Helium or Cubasis. By mapping each pattern to a specific key.

You can use any number of tools (probably Drambo itself) to take a note input and send out a program change event.streambyter and Mozaic can also do that.

  • Cool sounds, but the interface is incomprehensible to me. Nothing makes sense, or seems to do what the icon suggests.

Which icons do you feel do something other than how they are labeled? I think the manual is pretty good. I found things fun but not understandable till I read the manual.
