Quantize the Play Button (MIDI Message)….or Quantize the MP3 As it Plays?
Hi,
So I want to play some ‘background’ music in AUM, and then play live over it…………but it’s more complex.
I want to record an ‘intro’ and then when I click the footswitch (send a MIDI signal/message) start playing the background clip. It will “kind of” feel like it’s a loop, but in fact it’s pre-recorded. So you’ll hear the real time intro, and then the background clip/mp3 will be the same instrument and sound….so it will feel like it’s kind of a loop, rather than a background clip.
HERE’S the TRICKY PART…… I want to assure the pre-recorded loop plays in time with the AUM click or tempo.
I’ll record the background clip/mp3, and I will assure it’s recorded at the correct tempo…..but I’m afraid if I hit the footswitch too soon, or too late…. the background clip won’t be in time with AUM or in time with intro I played.
So is there a way to either play a pre-recorded clip ‘x’ measures in; or is there a way to press the footswitch (send a MIDI signal), and assure it STARTS playing the background clip exactly at the next measure?

You’re in luck. AUM's file player automatically starts on bar lines when triggered. As long as your footswitch press comes within one bar of when you want the clip to start, it'll start in time with the piece.
You can get more fancy by using looper apps like Loopy or Group the Loop, or with an app such as Neon Audio Editor, but for what you describe, you don't need to.
SweeeeEEEEEEeetola!! I can’t wait to try it.
