Where's the successor to Akai's Synthstation?

Am I the only one who would love a modern version of this keyboard? It would really make gigging with an ipad more of a pleasure than a chore.

  • Yes, i am using a synthstation25 with an iphone4 + Nanostudio
    Works like its born together...

First of the announce of Synthstation49 i was absolutely sure to buy one....but second look; it have no MIDI in/out Ports....
just a "old" 30Pin adapter...no Batterys, so Mööp dont buy it.

A new one with lightning/MIDI io/ Battery (charge ipad too) / with a Soundcard incl. Stereo in & out (little XLR/Klinke plug to use it for FX your Vocals or Guitar!)

I will def. buy one @AKAI!

I use synth staition 25 as a usb keyboard for sonar x3

  • Still got my SS25 gathering dust now for iOS however use it for my laptop controller!

  • NLog has a little mentioned feature with its looping recorder, audio or MIDI. When connected to the SS25 the instrument select buttons operate the record/play functions. Very handy.

Also, MidiBridge will map a directly connected SS25 to VirtualMIDI, a charge while playing any synth solution for iPhones.

  • Too bad their iPad synth doesn't work in iOS 7. The iPhone UI sucks wax, but the iPad UI is actually kinda nice.

I still use my SS25 almost daily.

    Thank God for MIDIBridge. :D

Has anyone tried plugging in an iPhone5 using an adapter?

Silly story - some time ago at work they issued iPads and keyboard cases to a lot of people, and all of a sudden everyone was showing up to meetings with them. One day I said, "hang on, I forgot my keyboard" and came back with my phone & SS25, which got quite a few laughs and several requests for demos. Wowed everybody with NLog for a bit before the meeting started. :)

@dwarman: I bought their app, but it was pretty crappy on the iPhone (as you said.) Deleted and never used it again.

  • iPhone 5 + adapter works nicely. Actuall feels a little firmer.
