Idea for implementing granular effects in song production

edited November 2021 in General App Discussion

I had this idea of mixing down a song, putting it in track one.
Then run the same track through a granular app and recording in in realtime in track two.
The idea is to jam with track one and being able to fade between the normal track 1 and the tweaked track 2 to use the best parts in a final mix. I guess I’m looking for something that will not loose the track of time as I grab hold of part of the song, that it will snap back to the timeline when lettting go of manipulating it.
Do you know some Granular effect apps that I can use like this? Would Samplr work like that at all?

BLEASS Granulizer for straightforward real-time granular thingy. It has a wet/dry knob so you could instantly do the “fade” stuff on the fly.
FRMS or iDensity for more processing, totally different, you’d load the original audio and mangle it.

  • @tahiche will FRMS og iDensity keep the songs timeline as I use it, so I can mix between a clean one, and a mangled one in the end?
    (:
Or maybe I wouldent want that option using those apps?
I’ll try the Bleass Granulizer next time i mixdown a track

  • Separate au Granular effect inside the spectrum synth app

You might be able to, but I think it’d require some work. I’d go for BLEASS for that.

  • Other Desert Cities also has an inbuilt granular effect.
