Advice for managing volumes
Hi,
I'm a guitarist that uses an iPhone on my board to trigger one shot samples (via AUM and Quantiloop) and to play various synthesizers (via Midi Guitar 2, AUM and various synth plug-ins.)
My signal chain looks like this:
Guitar > HX Effects > DSM Simplifier (amp in a box pedal) > iRig I/O > iPhone running Midi Guitar, AUM, Quantiloop and various synth and effect plug-ins > back to iRig > back to HX Effects > back to Simplifier > output to FOH and FRFR for monitoring.
I have been struggling managing volumes, mainly with all the synth plug-ins. In a band context, sometimes certain synths have enough volume whereas others don't and are completely drowned out. To counter this issue, I've been trying to get all volumes as close to - 3 DB as possible to get some consistency, then using the iRig volume as a sort of master volume to get to unity with my guitar volume.
My question - I'm thinking I need a limiter here to handle the volume differences I have. I've been reading about Maxima, Barricade, and Amazing Noises Limiter. Is there anyone here that could recommend the best solution for my use case? Again, just looking for the best plugin to run on the master bus of AUM to level all the volumes so they are consistent.
TIA for your help.

Limiter. I bought barricade. Theres also a gain thing in aum channels.
I noticed some synths are louder. You could just adjust synth volumes and make a saves of settings. Also use a limiter
Yeah I've tried AUM's built in gain but was hoping a limiter placed on the master bus could add make up gain so I don't have to tweak every synth and channel that needs a volume boost.
When playing with my band, I need the synth volumes to be as close to 0 DB as possible so they're unity with my guitar volume at gig levels.
The question now is which limiter to get 🤔
There are a lot of good ones on iOS! Personally, I’d start with RoughRider 3 as it’s free and will probably work well for your purposes.
