Finding and loading new OB-Xd patches

I’ve had OB-Xd for about a year now and really love it. I searched for some new patches today and found these:

https://www.kvraudio.com/product/ob-xd---virtual-analog-synthesizer-by-discodsp/downloads

I’ve downloaded them, but can’t seem to get them to load properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated — as well as any other sources for new Oberheim patches you guys might have discovered.

Not sure about OB-Xd, but some apps handle this best if you unzip the file in the Downloads directory, then Share it (them) with the app.

Edit: And sometimes that Sharing works better from a non-Apple app, like File Explorer or Documents by Readdle. Doing it from Files may not work.

    1) Download link and save to Files (if you use Safari, it will default save to Downloads)

    2) Open Files, find the zip package and tap to unzip it. If you’ve downloaded a full bank and not just individual presets, there will be a .fxb file in there somewhere. That’s what you want.

    3) Open standalone OB-XD. Click hamburger button > Import Bank.

    4) Browse to the default Downloads folder, locate that .fxb file I mentioned earlier. Tap to import.

That’s all it takes. I’ve run into banks in the past however that import but don’t play any sound assuming because the preset handling got changed along the way.

There’s quite a-plenty presets in the default app nowadays in my opinion. It covers comprehensively what the synth can do, so I don’t think you’re gonna find anything mind blowing out there. But hey, there’s never too much Oberheim.

    That’s a good link. Cheers.

  • I thought you might enjoy that one!

  • For some reason the app is currently not able to Import preset banks. Maybe there needs to be an update. It just shows the file idle when I try.

Probably want to do some cleaning up after installing those. Lots of repeats and files with no sound. The preset list can become a right mess if you’re not careful. Some good stuff though.
