Patterning 2 cloud kits

Every now and then I check to see if anyone has shared any new cloud kits in Patterning 2 and there’s always some interesting sounds to download.

It makes me wonder what will happen to these kits. The lack of AUv3 for Patterning makes me question the long term plan and how long the kit sharing service will continue to be live. Is it like KRFT where once the developer walks away, the shares are no longer available?

Here’s hoping that doesn’t happen and that Patterning lives on.

    It’s easier to come up with interesting and original rhythms on Patterning 2 for me than anything else.

    Thought I'd chime in (I don't check this forum very often, but just did by chance...) Patterning is definitely still "active" and I have plans for a version 3. The current plan is to make it AUv3 and add a bunch of new features. There's a ton of boring but essential under-the-hood work that needs to happen to make that possible. It's just been really slow to grow with the pandemic and me focusing on some other things (e.g. health, making music, parenting, other work) for the last couple of years. But don't worry, it's not going anywhere!

    Hi @benkamen - that is so good to hear!

    In hindsight, my post was pretty negative. It was more about apps with cloud sharing services like KRFT that can stop working even thought the app still works.

    No worries! The data is stored via apple so hopefully that makes it pretty secure. There used to be a similar song sharing function in Chordion that was hosted by a third party that eventually went out of business, causing the app to lose functionality… so I learned my lesson the hard way :)

    I’m really happy to hear that Patterning is still actively being developed. Still one of the best iOS drum machines out there. AUv3 sounds really exciting.
