iOS /iPad (kind’o off topic) …. Folder in a Folder?

Hi,
Somewhat off topic…..

I have a rather large aka plethoric set of apps /fx :: soOOOOOooo I want to put them in a folder on my iPad DESKTOP. If you drag one app icon on top of another - voila - it creates a folder.

BUT….. how do you get a folder, within a folder on your desktop.

I’d like to make one (subfolder) for my BLEASS fx, another subfolder for my Eventide, etc., etc., ad infinitum.

Frustrated in Philly

  • Thus endeth the thread.

  • I've grown to use App Library (iPadOS15.x) and have just a few folders with apps on the home screen...
This as many of the 'apps' are AUv3's and seldom need to be launched in stand-alone mode.

  • SoooOOOOoooo …… I won’t go there

  • Here's a related question. If you drag an app into a folder, how can you launch that app (ie, get it to stop wiggling) without having to back out of the folder to hit the "done" button?

    Hit home button

  • Subfolders will come one day, we're still in the dark ages of files on iOS really :)

    Harsh.

C'mon. We're almost not very far off from getting close to being somewhat caught up to Windows 95 in file management now. Cut Apple some slack man!

    I don't have a home button :)

Just tap somewhere on the screen which is empty and doesn’t have an icon.

True, and they need to keep some features for us to look forward to when it comes around to upgrading to iOS 95 :D

Weird, whenever I do that it takes me back to the home screen which is what I DON'T want. Just want to drag an app into a folder and without leaving that folder view open said app. It's not life or death, but one of those iOS things that make me feel like I'm missing something obvious. :)

I’m confused…I have subfolders in iCloud. Why is everyone saying you can’t have subfolders? I have folders and subfolders like: Desktop > Music Projects > iOS > [project name] > Stems

Edit: never mind, talking about on the actual home screen

Isn’t there a virtual home button on iPads that don’t have physical ones? My iPads have always had a physical one.

  • So two folders on an iPad desktop walk into a bar; and there’s an old guy sitting there named Win95 who says…………….

@Tarekith I just tested on my iPad Pro with IOS 14.8. After moving an app into a folder, i am able to stop its wiggling by tapping at an empty space inside that open folder. This keeps the folder open and i can directly start the app. Pressing outside of the folder takes me back to the homescreen.

  • One of the worst things is uninstalling apps when you can't find the app in question in folders on your home screens, there should be an option to delete the app in settings. It's madness Apple haven't thought of something basic like this.

    Perfect, thanks!

You can delete apps from the iPad storage list, nice way to get rid of storage hogs

That's useful at least, I think this is a fairly recent feature, it can take a while to populate the list as it works out the storage.
