Any League of Legends players here? What were your thoughts on Arcane

Yeah, this came outta nowhere. Currently on episode 4. All I can say is this...

INSANE.

  • Tried a few times to get into the game, but I don't have the patience or the thick skin to deal with all the flaming that happens in low level matches.
I love the idea of League of Legends, so having other options to explore the universe is great for me.

Arcane is looking great so far (I just watched episode 5), and I've seen it reaching and impressing even some friends that don't care at all about LoL or its lore, which is awesome.

Just watched episode 6. Wow, the hype is unreal. So glad I get to marathon the show.
Used to be a Vi main (played her Jungle/Support), so this show is an early christmas present.
    And Ekko? Oh YEAH!!!

  • O. M. G... It’s fucking brutal. I’m so loving it, except for ep3 ending, but I’m about to see ep5, and I’m probably losing my beauty sleep cause I’m glued to the screen: the graphics, the story, the characters, the soundtrack. What a great show! Last time an animated series moved me so much I was a teen watching princess mononoke

I'm a big League of Legends fan, and I absolutely loved Arcane. It was such an immersive and beautifully animated series that delved deep into the lore of the League universe. By the way, if you're into League like me, have you heard about lol script? It's a handy tool for LoL players, offering some cool features to enhance your gameplay. But back to Arcane, it was great to see the backstory of iconic champions like Jinx and Vi. The storytelling and character development were top-notch.

  • I don’t play the game and the genre wouldn’t normally be my type of viewing, but Arcane has been pretty good.

  • Season 2 came, and delivered like a train. The amount of depth in the writing, and scenes.

And getting Twenty One Pilots, and Stromae to join the music of Arcane in addition to the sick intro song from Imagine Dragons. It just keeps getting better.

Minor spoilers coming but I gotta talk about the music.

The Line by Twenty One Pilots is a song that resonates with the struggle of Viktor

I'm genuinely glad to see Stromae back in the mainstream light. This duet with Pomme combines a Dembow drum pattern, into a salsa like song, yet it's in French. Excellent. Tres bien.

And of course, the intro. Two chords, yet define the story of Arcane with a TON of tension, dynamics, and JID spitting fire with his flow.

The story, is a dance of emotions. Questioning who really is the enemy? Each person has their unique view of life, and it shapes their choices. But the stakes are definitely high. And there's so many Easter eggs, and references that even inna second watch, I'm finding a lot of sub plots been revealed.

Definitely recommend this show for a watch.

  • I don't know or care for the game, but I deeply love the show!

The last episodes with all that magic stuff was too much for me, I need to add.
Way too cosmic, esoteric or whatever.

I would buy DVDs or Blu-Rays!
But being on Netflix, that will not happen.

Never played LoL but Arcane is literally best show i ever saw in my life … Fantastic characters and storyline, tons of heart-touching and heart-breaking moments, fantastic animations .. it’s completely different level than anything i ever saw in my life..

After i finished Season 2, literally started to watch Season 1 again to refresh all story nuances. And having a blast again, also now i am appreciating some details much more - literally EVERYTHING in Season1 makes deep sense in context of Season2 .. Even in E01S01 is major hint for ending of Season 2 !!!

    Absolute gem.

Hope they will do more in future.

Here's a trailer to give an overview of the story.

Focusing on the tale of two sisters, it explores a ton of serious topics. From forgiveness, redemption, loss, the quest for knowledge, and a misguided sense of self righteousness, where key characters feel what they're doing is right, but failing to understand the implications of their actions.

This show is a masterpiece that doesn't require anyone to have ever played the game. Yet it also leaves a TON of Easter eggs to those who are familiar with those characters. Like their origin story, to how they became who they are.

Honestly, it is, and also it isn't.

Or as Viktor might say... Jaybe... Jaybe not.

With me trying to be as vague as possible, yet minor spoilers...

But in a sense, I'm likening the end story to a world where AI is king, and one individual/system/collections of systems has the power to overwrite all others way of life. And it's emphasises the message that there is beauty in imperfections.

Agreed. The foreshadowing in the beginning episode, to future versions of themselves (Ekko 's battle with Jinx in season 1 was exactly 4 seconds, and was in the same episode number as their scenes in Season 2)

Or, when Ekko sees both personalities of Jinx in the mirror

And Ambessa is very much the warmother that she needed to be. Tough, ruthless, yet she holds a soft spot for her family. And it's done in a very believable way. Instead of the modern storytelling of "oh, I'm a girl boss", she exudes confidence, strength, and badassery.

Yeah, I never played the game and had no problem following any of it.

I mean specifically little Powder in Season 1 EP 1 telling others, during standing on rooftop and watching flying airship "one day i will ride one of those things" versus very final last scene of last episode of season 2 ;-)) It's absolutely clear ;-))

Experiencing art is as enriching as creating it.

Do I have to always write a book, or can I just read one?

Arcane was deeply moving, extremely creative, and inspiring. My best friend loved S1 and has watched it multiple times through, but did not like S2 at all. I gave S1 10/10 and S2 12/10. The story was as beautiful as the animation. My creative side was lit up!

Can’t wait for them to dive into more of the LoL world in the future.

They did a post interview answering a ton of questions from the end of the series.

There was even a behind the scenes of "The Line" song by Twenty One Pilots in the same video.

Okay, not planning on making a post on every song. But Heimer's song deserves a mention.

And it's such a fascinating story that looks into how an immortal yordle's perspective interacts with mortal beings. Quite the layers of story Arcane has.
