Syntronik 2 (only desktop)
So... we will wait for ios version

It’s hard to get excited by Syntronik. I have syntronik deluxe on desktop (all 22 synths from v1) and I find it hard to justify the GB.
V2 adds disk streaming (in 2021. Finally.) so that might improve the biggest problem, which is it’s so bloody slow to load patches. Once you’ve tested 10 that don’t fit your song you give up and load a virtual synth that models instead of samples and zip through 100s of preset in a fraction of the time.
I’d have thought that IK had enough smarts to just model the synths instead of resorting to sampling.
Also , whilst I’ve got the rants going full flow, I’m not sure it’s even Apple silicon native? I could be wrong but there’s no mention of it anywhere. I did download the CS version to see if my existing synths loaded any faster but it’s not working. It just keeps complaining nothing is authorised (including the new v2 synths included with CS).
IK make some good stuff. Their modelled MODI bass and drums are really good. I do also really like sampletron 2.
But yeah. Syntronik isn’t worth the space in my very humble opinion, especially compared to say the Moog apps. Animoog is way more inspiring in 5 mins than all 22 Syntronik v1 synths combined.
I certainly have no interest in any Syntronik synths on iOS when there are so many great virtual synths already.
Syntronik 2 and the SampleTank 4.1.5 update that supports it in SampleTank are absolutely M1 native.
We didn't model more than the filters because Erik Norlander (who has probably forgotten more about synths than most people will probably know in multiple lifetimes) felt that the most realistic way to capture the sounds of these synths was a hybrid of deeply sampling them and modeling the filters while creating technology like DRIFT™ to make them sound even more realistic was the best way. We put a lot of trust in him and his vision for good reason. Plus, he was one of the key people in creating the Andromeda A6 which is no slouch of a synth itself, and he has a collection that is larger than anything most of us has seen whilst not just being a collector (he's a skilled touring and recording keyboardist, along with his experience in designing actual hardware synths etc) so he's got quite an ear for the gear on top of his general experience in the industry and specifically with synths.
tell us when it will be on iOS and ipadOS
Wow! That's great news, thanks! I do like a lot of the SampleTank libraries and having them as native now is a huge bonus, especially in a free 'minor' update!
It might be worth making a bigger deal of this; it's not even mentioned in the release notes within Product Manager:
@ikmultimedia Sampletank 4.1.5 is quite crashy. When you close the plug-in window it will force Logic 10.7.1 to quit every time. Repeatable, with empty project other than 1 SampleTank instance.
MBP M1 Pro 14". Latest OS. Latest Sampletank.
This was also happening on Logic 10.7.1 with Sampletank 4.1.4 (I did send a message via contact support on IK website)
Tried the same with the same instrument in Syntronik 2 and it works OK. ST4 crashes Logic every time as soon as you close the plug-in window.
