Jazz News

I think my best jazz compilation to date. Mostly SWAM horns, Ravenscroft 275, BeatHawk Total Bass and Jazz Drummer. Several tracks have a Coltrane /Quincy Jones tilt.

I was surprised at the very positive response to Phonography. The truth is I never know when I will hit that magic mark when I improvise. I’m glad it happens now and again,

  • I'm at work so I only had time to listen to '6401'.
    Loved it!
I'll check out the rest later tonight.

  • Great album, all highlights, no favourites!
Boy I wish I had 10% of your timing. I know it’s something I’m pretty crappy at… another 25 years playing I might get there⏳😉

@LinearLineman This is a really beautiful sounding album! I love the pacing, mood and ambiance it creates in my room as the sounds expand from my speakers.

This will be on rotation today :)

Man I miss hearing Jazz in the basement of a smoky club with a cool drink in my hand and my beautiful lady by my side...thanks for bringing me there with this album :)

@LinearLineman I made some different album art for you based on listening to the album, and allowing it to carry me away. Let me know if you'd like the raw .PSD file. I made it at 3200x3200 at 300dpi if you'd like it.

    Great album!

  • Thanks, @Paulieworld. I hope you’ll enjoy the rest. Lol, I put a $5 price on it and got two sales. It must be special!

Appreciate your listening to full albums @GeoTony. 25 yrs is the blink of an eye. Keep on truckin’ If I could say one thing about timing it would be relaxation. It’s the busy mind that fills the space when breathing does so much better with it.

Thanks @echoopera. It means a lot to me to be able to conjure up some beautiful memories for you.
The cover is fabulous. I especially appreciate the midi notes below the name. If you could render it at 2000 dpi, please. I think 3400 is too big for BandCamp. Also, the little white square artifact. It’s a beauty. Makes me think of amber. Greatly appreciate your wanting to create it. 😘🙏

  • @LinearLineman - did you catch the text running down the left edge. It might be tricky to see but maybe it’s intended to be subliminal.

  • Good eyes @McD

    Here’s a clipping of it

@LinearLineman Here you go sir. downsampled the image to 2000x200 at 150dpi, and removed the little white rectangle in the bottom left. Also provided a version without the small vertical text.

    Cheers!

Is it a quote or something you wrote? It has a Philip K. Dick sense of reality as an illusion. Perfect for @LinearLineman’s take on life and temporal existence.

Thanks. It was a surrealistic inspired thought which came to mind while I was listening to this amazing album  Language is a virus from outer space ya know

  • @LinearLineman I was wondering how you might feel about me taking Samples from this album for use in some of my upcoming tracks and aural experiments. I'm always searching for good Jazz motifs to infuse my work. Hopefully you saw that I purchased it through Bandcamp ;)

@echoopera @McD, no, I missed the quote! Too bad it is illegible on the BandCamp site, but it is a wonderful subliminal sentiment. Smacks of Beatlism 😉. Thanks, very. I’m very pleased the album works so well for you.

  • @echo_opera is open to the musings of the cosmos… so you’re music which emanates from that source it right up his alley. The difference between art and chance is just the point of view.

Writing on the iPhone is such a pain.

Writing on the iPhone is such a pain.

In college I spent hours in the university library pouring over the works of Breton, Dali, Leary, Jung, Campbell, Castaneda, Blake and others looking for ways in which to break through the veil splayed out before our eyes and senses...I was in search of the miraculous...which I feel blessed to have witnessed and experienced upon occasion.

Once this vista has been witnessed, nothing else matters...one constantly seeks its glory...no matter how small the crumb we taste...to know that the essence is present...we strive to touch and share all that it provides to the world...to reflect the spark for others to be enflamed.

@echoopera, sure, sample away. Thx for buying it, wasn't necessary, of course. I can send you tracks or parts of your choice if you want.

Sitting in the ER at this moment. My exwife gf was attacked by a dog. She fell and likely broke her shoulder. So hours to spend here with her in a lot of pain. Ah, the cosmos.

Oh shoot...hope she didn't break it. Hope it heals quickly in any case. Time to carry a collapsible baton for such walking encounters...

  • @echoopera, she had dog spray. Saved her from more serious injury.

  • I spent the day at the Infusion Center watching monoclonal antibodies drip, drip, drip… and Succession on my phone.

    Good times.

I’m so sorry about the dog. Generally they are lovely creatures. Never been on the victim end.

  • @McD you have covid? Or a loved one?

  • edited November 2021

@McD And by Congrats, I mean, congrats on being able to get the therapy...it's not available everywhere as therapy...but it really should be made available to everyone who wants/needs it.

It's NOT an infusion for me and today was a new cancer treatment for my partner. We're still using extreme caution to avoid viruses... masks, social distancing, only going out for important appointments that are typically health related.

  • I listened to your album last night. Very beautiful. I thought Zephyr was particularly lovely.

I am very sorry to hear about your friend. That must have been terrifying.
I insist my wife carry pepper spray, but never really considered the possibility of an animal attack where we live.

@McD - I am so sorry to hear about your partner. A few weeks ago, I spent several harrowing hours waiting for the results of my wife's CT scan, so I sort of understand what you must be going through. I most definitely understand the need for caution in these strange times. I wasn't feeling 100% this morning so I took a sick day today just because I didn't want to be the guy that infected the 2nd floor. We had a small outburst of COVID recently and everybody is exercising extra caution.
My thoughts and prayers to both of you.

  • Thanks for listening @Paulieworld. Yes, Cynthia maced the dog but he still came on. But he probably would have mauled her if not for her quick draw. Bottom line a broken arm.

No. We are doing a good job of avoiding the virus.

Monoclonal antibody drugs are used for most cancer treatments and that's what my
partner is receiving. She did a round of Obinutuzumab and it provided marginal benefit.

Yesterday she started on Rituximab the max suffix lets the medical community know
    it's a Monoclonal Anti-Body type of drug.

The "Rituxan" (a brand name) is typically given with another infusion of Bendeka.

She has SLL and these treatments usually put the cancer into remission. We expect good results.

I enjoyed the whole album. Very well done! 👍🏽🧔🏼 The trick is to press the record button, before the improvising gets good …🙏🏽

  • One word, magnificant!

    regards, frenq!
