I'm probably going not to publish IAA as well Audiobus support for Audanika.

Currently, the following steps make sense for me:

    • Concentrate on new features of Audanika
    • Provide Audanika's audio engine as AUV3 first -> Recording Audanika Audio is then possible in hosts
    • Later add also the Audanika user interface as AUV3

I guess that is what most user would want anyway. Is there a good reason for IAA and Audiobus at this point, especially in favor of AUv3? Genuinely curious.

No, it's just a matter of time. IAA and Audiobus are right there (unfortunately unstable). AUV3 needs time.

  • @gatzsche sent an email to Audanika support but in case you see this first: bit crackly with the latest update on iPad 6th gen 14.4.1. Appreciate the new sounds though

  • edited December 2021

Thanks so much for your feedback. Can you try to delete and reinstall Audanika? This should remove the crackling.
Unfortunately, something seems to go wrong when updating the app.

  • Update is out. Moving along that roadmap. Congratulations @gatzsche

  • I was able to buy the whole bundle for $2. I'd only ever paid for SoundPrism Link Edition a LONG time ago. No complaints here at all. Still love the old versions and really diggin' Audanika too! :)

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.

When we implement AUV3, what advantage would IAA have? Audanika could then used in Audiobus. What I’m experiencing so far is that the issues are not coming from Audiobus. They seem to come from IAA which is in the scope of Apple.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • The latest updates to the Sound Prism Apps have broken them on iOS 12.5.5 specifically the big yellow advertisement for the new Audanika app, I have updated both Sound Prism and Sound Prism Pro and now they both fail to launch beyond the opening screen. I did delete and reinstall them but they still stall and crash. I was not willing to update SP Electro or SP link as I did not want to lose them as well. If I could request that the sounds from the link edition be added or made available inside the new Audanika app then I would no longer need access to the soon to be discontinued editions

@banjofran , thanks so much for that feedback. I'm looking into that and trying to make the app work again.

  • Just to be clear (and since nobody is pointing this out): will Soundprism apps still be installed from ‘my purchases’ or once removed from the AppStore they can’t be installed at all? Because…ok…you have all the rights to make a new app and have new money for further development, but removing the old apps saying it is to “avoid confusion” in my opinion is a little ridiculous. You don’t want to update them? Your right, but it should be a user’s right to continue using apps they paid for. Specially if they are not interested in the new one or the new features. Since it looks you want to be very transparent @gatzsche , maybe an honest “we make a new app, you have to buy this one, we don’t want you to use the old ones you paid for” would sound better. And yes…I know I can leave them installed on my older iPad…but this will force me not to touch the iPad (and not everybody has an iPad to freeze)

Btw: ALL the points you listed in your post can be done WITHOUT removing the old apps from the AppStore. The only motivation you gave to remove them is the “confusion”…cmon…really?
Since I’m sure that if you make a good work on the new app you’ll succeed anyway (and since your low prices I will probably buy it too)…seriously…or you let people use apps they paid for or you are really honest and you say you remove them to make people buy the new one…
If you were really concerned about confusion, a sentence in Audanika description stating “this is the new app, if you buy this one you don’t need the old Soundprism series” would be more than enough…

  • Indeed there are multiple reasons for the decision I made. Confusion is one of them. Another reason is to be able to invest as much as possible energy into new features.

“this is the new app, if you buy this one you don’t need the old Soundprism series”

Good idea. I'm going to tell that to users once the most important SoundPrism features are implemented in Audanika.

  • Here is an update from the AUv3 front. I was able to create an AUV3 with Flutter, the development environment I'm using for Audanika. I requested some support from Google, the developer of Flutter. I hope that they help me to figure out soon, what's going wrong. For guys interested in developing cross-platform audio apps, here is my GitHub project showing the current state:

How would just leaving the possibility to download some apps (without putting any work in them) steal energy from your new project?

Okay, so what is that decision then? I'm sorry for being slow, but just to be clear, what is your plan? Will you leave the old apps available (even if abandoned, with a clear description in the app store) - or will you remove them completely? I hope it's the first one, otherwise it's kind of difficult to understand why you have just promoted the old apps in a bundle, without mentioning "and by the way I will take it all from you in three months".

    Thanks in advance 👍

Yes, after March 1 SoundPrism cannot be purchased in the AppStore anymore. Existing users of course will be able to use it further, but it cannot be purchased by new users. Until then the SoundPrism dock and playing modes will also be implemented in Audanika. The features differences between SoundPrism Pro and Audanika should be minimal then.

The problem are new OS updates which require every year a significant amount of effort which we do not have for new things.

Will the play modes from Link and Electro be making an appearance? I do quite like that you can have the chords, and bass play together with one finger press

  • I like the Audanika App, and it can pretty much replace all those others for me. I think I see whats up, your simplifying and not wanting a gaggle of apps to deal with too eh. Nice roadmap, thats like unheard of so thanks.

As I said, we are not asking you to update for new OS…just to give the chance to download it (0 effort).

And…could we have a direct answer? Will it be possible to download them again from “my purchases” or this answer is a way to tell us “if you keep them installed you can use them” but we will not be able to download them again?

Sorry if I sound doubtful, but the lack of direct answers to direct questions is always a bad sign. It just sounds like “I answer something different cause I don’t want to say it directly”. An old technique of politicians

Well…I think you DON’T see what’s up…they can leave the apps to download for previous customers with older OS with 0 work from them involved and 0 deal…IF they want…

Sorry, for being not clear: Yes, you can download it further from My Purchases 👍 Otherwise the recent updates would not make sense at all.

  • edited December 2021

Message canceled cause the answer finally came. Thank you

There it is folks. Sounds good to me

Yes. I agree. Direct and clear answer. Thank you very much
Now I stop disturbing you and let you work on the new app

  • @gatzsche I’m very much enjoying the new app. The roadmap looks excellent! I paid for the original SoundPrism Link app and thought only paying another $2 to get the bundle AND new Audanika app was a steal. Thank you 🙏 for keeping it alive! :)
