Audio Share - Direct WAV to MP3 Conversion? [plus my latest recording in AUM]

Hi Everyone,
Is there a way, right in AudioShare to convert the recorded wave files to mp3?

In cases where I’m not super seriously recording….. I’d like to be able to convert them to mp3, for posting (here) on social media, etc.

BY THE WAY…..at no extra cost or obligation……. as a way to say THANK YOU!! to so many of you who’ve answer my many forum posts; as I’m trying to learn to use my iPad for Fx…..here’s my latest

Here’s my rig set up (in case you’re curious)
Violin = Yamah YEV 104 with Octave strings (plays and octave lower)
iPad Pro 12” - 2021
AUM
Audio to MIDI Steps

  • EQ to help even out some frequencies
  • A2M for the actual audio to MIDI
  • MIDI De-Ghost - to help eliminate accidental string touches
  • Rozeta Scaler - (remember, it’s an octave violin) - to transpose the MIDI notes up an octave
  • Ravenscroft275 Piano ; I use the Prometeus setting
  • AltiSpace IR Vervb - very large airy setting

Over to Enso….for a little 8 bar piano loop
The part I’m playing is simple. I pluck (pizz) the strings on the violin
I take the Enso output and bus it on over to a recording channel

Faux Cello Channel

  • Thafknar - Cello IR from 3 Sigma Audio
  • FabFilter Pro R - Medium Reverb
It’s bussed on over the same recording channel

Yeah, yeah….. I had a few notes out of tune there on the fiddle…..I couldn’t hear the “piano” part so well, and I was afraid I was out of rhythm.

Who can “feel” a string pad synth in there?
Any other suggestions on Fx, or ways to improve the sound?

Hope you Enjoy It ….and….Thanks Again for all of your help

OK One more question (besides the AudioShare mp3 converter); is there a way to use an Fx - ONLY if the pitch is above a certain frequency?

Comments

  • That sounded nice and lovely and evokes fictional imagery of a pensive nature.

As far as affecting notes above a certain frequency, place the effect on it’s own separate channel with a low pass filter preceding the effect. Then use a send to send the instrument 100% to the effect channel. Adjust the filter until you hear the result you desire.

In this case you will still hear the original dry signal in parallel with the affected signal. If you don’t want that, then you need to put a high pass filter on the instrument channel with the same frequency cutoff, but the notes around the cutoff may sound too muffled on the dry signal and will bleed a little into the effect channel. All of this is the assumption that you’re talking about a real instrument like your violin.

If it’s an iOS instrument, you can be precise with the frequency. It involves setting up zones on your keyboard and duplicating your instrument, one with and one without the effect and the right MIDI channel configurations. Somebody else here may be able to provide you with more details and concise work around.

  • Why A2M for pitch-to-MIDI (P2M) instead of MG2 (MIDI Guitar 2). There's a lot of discussion that might interest you at Jam Origin:

    https://jamosapien.com/

Also check out Cantini violins with quintaphonic pickup, each of which you can connect to a P2M instance.

To only use Fx above a certain frequency, you can use a high-pass filter before processing, or a MIDI filter post-processing. Check out Mozaic and MidiFire.

For mp3, options listed here: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/20670/converting-wav-to-mp3/p2

    Auditor, Twisted Wave, Ferrite..

Too bad AudioShare doesn't offer an IAP.

  • Unfortunately audioshare doesn’t. There’s several apps, MP3 converter, comes to mind. Search MP3 converter or audio converter in App Store.

Twisted Wave would be best as you can use it for multiple things and it loads AUv3s if you ever want to use them inside…also that was so beautiful. Love 3 Sigma audio too

Audioshare will convert to AAC which is even better than mp3.

  • I send AAC to everyone I deal with and no issues FWIW.

  • AAC is generally considered higher-quality than mp3 at equivalent bitrates.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Thank you!!!

I was curious what the difference was… I usually use the m4a aac in audioshare but wasn’t sure how it compared to the typical MP3. Thanks.

And as @anickt mentioned its basically accepted everywhere.

  • I think the somewhat new app Sample Crate also does audio file conversion to MP3, although I haven’t figured that part out yet.
