The Monsters On Maple Street

Hooking onto @Paulieworld’s Twilight Zone Theme. “The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street” from 1960 was a Serling masterpiece of paranoia. As a 12 yr old it blew my mind and still does. Jack Weston was a marvel of misdirected fear and Claude Akins the hopeless voice of reason. Gee, sounds like this forum lately😉.

FMTines via PureSynthPlatinum, House Mark1, Ravenscroft 275, SWAM Trumpet, Bb Fr Horn, Tenor Trombone, BASSalicious and 2 tracks Jazz Drummer.

  • Nice, you captured the feel of the times in this piece.

    Good track.

  • Wow... I used your new track for the maiden voyage test of the new Closed Back headphones I purchased a week ago.

They have a nice tight low end and better imaging than the phones I've been using lately.

I can't quite place one of the string-synth sounding apps in your project. I suspect it's the FM Tines since that's the most synth-y of the listed apps.

The sonic combination of selected apps is pretty magical for my tastes. Good work selecting and mixing them, Mike.

  • Jazz is not usually in my wheelhouse, but I liked this. It does bring to mind sounds that I associate with film of that era.

  • Absolutely perfect. I enjoyed every second.
That little glitchy thing at 1:42 was a nice touch.

That episode was so telling of human nature.
It seems as though all Twilight Zone episodes had a deeper moral lesson for anyone paying attention.

Thanks @Gravitas and @AlexY. I agree, but I must admit I was just improvising. The connection to the music of the era came afterward.

@McD I ordered the CB1’s as well. Looking forward to getting them. Glad you liked this one. The synth sound is FM Tines, but not certain it is in the standalone. Many more patches when purchased as inapp with PureSynthPlatinum.

@Paulieworld, thanks, mate. The trumpet fall at 1:42 was a total midi editing accident. . I rely on the accidents more than any conscious intention I am able to apply. I’m convinced it’s what makes my stuff good. Very liberating!

  • I thought the thing at 1:42 might have been the result of your wife/GF asking you if you wanted a ham sandwich or something.
