USB-C Plug same as lightning/CCK?

Hello! I currently have a pioneer DDJ thing hooked up to my iPad with one of those CCK's.

If I got a new iPad, could I just use a usb-c cable instead of the USB to CCK?

If so, how would I charge the thing while docked?

  • You need to use a USB-C hub that can charge your iPad at the same time. Beware though that there are some reports of third party powered USB-C hubs wrecking your iPad. I would suggest using the Apple USB-C to HDMI adapter which also has both USB-C and A ins.

Exactly this. The Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter seems to be the USB-C replacement for both the Lightning USB Adapter and the HDMI adapter. Note that the USB-C port on the new adapter is power-only, just like the Lightning port on the earlier adspters.

  • This sounds like a lot of money and trouble that I'll save for when I HAVE to upgrade.
