Dear LL the first act of this felt quite disorienting - almost like standing between two nightclubs (or is it just the espresso?) setting us up for the “reveal” of the piano boldly folding in and finally the unified Turn of the third act sealing the deal.
Also: ‘Midnight Espresso’ is an album-worthy title.
@Proppa, thanks. I wholly agree with your analysis. This recent reboot of my jazz roots is merging with the desire to mix instrumental media. Of course “with strings” is nothing new in jazz, but I’d like to shake that notion up a bit.
Lol, I, too, thought Midnight Espresso a good album title. I was riffing on that great movie, Midnight Express.
