iOS plugin for bass harmonics?

Hi,
Wondering if there’s a n auv3 dedicated to generating sub bass harmonics so that they can be heard on smaller speakers, such as the iPad speakers.
The equivalent to Waves R-bass, Submarine, Lo-air… I used those frequently on desktop and would like and equivalent. Or if you have any tips regarding low frequencies… I know distorsion does the job but these dedicated plugins are a lot more subtle and don’t alter the sound as much.
Cheers!.

If you chain BPF, Graphic Shaper, EQ in Drambo and add a dry/wet mix plus an APF on the dry signal path, you can build your own harmonics generator with a distortion curve that can be tweaked live until you get the sound you're after.
This will boost the bass on mobile devices without overloading the speaker.

This is just a quick sketch, there are many other ways...

Looks good. But I don’t quite get the filtering logic… If you’re just adding distorsion, couldn’t I do that with say Saturn 2 only on the lower bass?.

Thanks!. Same question… are these techniques equivalent?. Are they all just adding distorsion to the lower bass frequencies?. If that’s the case then FF Saturn should get the job done no problem as it’s got band filtering for selective targeting.

  • Some other options:
    RRS Bass Enhancer
    FAC Bandit
    Caelum Audio Beef

But yes, Saturn will probably do just fine.

I own the Beef login, never thought f using it for this purpose.
So, in general, these plugins such as the Waves ones I mentioned earlier, are after all just adding distorsion to the lower frequency band?.

  • @tahiche ToneBoosters Enhancer has a sub-harmonic generator, so that would be similar to Waves LoAir and Submarine. From what I've read that's different than what R-Bass and MaxxBass do. It's not just saturation/distortion, though it has that, too.

  • Yeah, @telecharge is right. The three I listed are saturators. I don't know if that's different from distortion.

There's also Klevgrand Knorr...couldn't think of the name earlier. From Knorr's App Store description: "The algorithm adds overtones to an existing sound in a way that isn't possible with ordinary distortion and filtering."

Been reading about TB Enhancer. Looks good and for the price it seems like it could serve more purposes.
From googling around it seems like an exciter is basically just filtered distorsion w wet/dry mix. So something like Saturn should do the job perfectly, you get band filters, distorsion and wet/dry per band. I’m sure the dedicated exciter/enhancer plugins have refined the process, choosing the right distortion algorithm, etc… and probably at lower cpu cost than something like Saturn.
    Thanks for your recommendations!.

  • Would love to know if anyone has any experience using this one before I take the plunge.

  • I use it on synth basses all the time, because they tend to loose their balls at high rez.

    Great for 303 tweaking.

Just plug it in and your instrument has bass.

The lower the input, the louder the bass proportion.
