Grand Finale crackling
I used Grand Finale for mastering (I use the "master medium" preset) in June/July. Now when I master a similar track, I hear crackles in the master when I play the output wav file from the file browser. I guess this is probably user error, but what could I be doing wrong? It just worked in the past, I didn't adjust anything. Or could it be some ipados issue, I am still on 14, not 15? I also changed from an early 2020 ipad to a new ipad pro.

Possible different or inconsistent sample rate, 44.1 vs 48 kHz?
There are some previous discussions about crackling on new(ish) devices:

Thanks for the thoughts! Grand Finale is a standalone mastering program that isn't used as in insert in AUM or similar. You load a WAV via audioshare, and then you export to WAV. Both input and output are 44.1, so I doubt it is that? But I think the idea that it might be due to some longer term ipados 14 (edit) issue is probably right. I'm thinking about upgrading to ipados 15.
Do you get the crackling if you export the mastered file to a different machine and play it there?
Thanks for the suggestion - yes, I do.
OK, seems to be user error. I guess a bunch of the presets just interact with the synth patch I am using now. Rather than mastering a similar track, I went back and remastered one of my old tracks. Sounds the same as the master from June.
Sorry for the false alarm.
Thanks for the tips @uncledave and @NeonSilicon .
