best arpeggiator
what are some of the best arpeggiator or similar note sequencers on ios i only have 2. step poly arp
step bud.
but are there others that are better? i’m curious what some of your favorites are
Comments
also just tried cycle. it says it has an arp mode. but when I activate arp mode. it still keeps playing a pulse even if i’m not hitting a key. and there is no octave range regardless of where i play on the keyboard. i think it may just be the nature of the app, and not a true arppegiator. any body else try it as an arp?
StepPolyArp unit is the best I have found so far.
Cheers
Too many to mention
But you could look at
arpist https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arpist/id775411223
Cream https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/cream-mobile/id890886111
Thesys https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/thesys/id655513441
Arpegist https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arpeggist/id993650909
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/synthesizer-arpeggiator-drum-pad/id533053346
oh yeah, i had forgotten about some of those. thanks for that list
Drambo! It is the first arp I actually find playable in a live situation. It also combines well with chord and strum modules. All sorts of voice stealing tricks are also possible and they’re real fun to play.

StepPolyArp is probably the best all round, and it is incredibly flexible ... I use it:
In the end, it depends exactly what you want to do, as some of the others have a different feature set that might fit your needs better.
interesting those last two processes sound intresting. i’m gonna try them out.
I rather like ArpBud (more of an arp whereas StepBud is more a step sequencer)
Arpeggionome <— practically a sequencer that performs arpeggios
Also Gestrument Pro
Which also does a lot more
Many synths have an arp feature built in, too.
StepPolyArp for sure!
haven’t heard of that app for a while. i’ll have to check it out
didn’t virsyn make and arppegiator app? i can’t seem to find it on the app store
It's that Arpeggist mentioned here before. Virsyn just doesn't go under the name Virsyn in the appstore anymore.
ohh cool thanks
maybe it’s ipad only. i can’t find it on app store while on my phone.

thanks
It’s Harry Gohs. Hopefully I spelled that correctly. Unfortunately the Arppegist app hasn’t been updated in a long time.
Step Poly Arp
Mozaic- has several Arp scripts to download
Ionarics
Arppegionome - not AU, but IAA and Core Midi
Drambo
Rozeta has one included
ArpBud2
Rhythmbud - does a few things one of which is an Arp
Aphelian
Some are super simple like Rozeta Arp, and some more complex and can do so much more like SPA.
For arpeggios, I personally probably use these the most Mozaic, ArpBud 2, SPA, Rozeta, Aphelian.
Such a shame that Arppegist is not auv3. I love the arpeggiator in Vyrsin apps, like ReSlice, and that’s basically Arpeggist embedded in the app. Right?. Why won’t they release it standalone auv3?
Agreed 100% Arppegist would be the obvious goto, if it was kept up to date. Still, it’s so cheap right now it’s still a worthwhile asset in the toolkit, as long as you realise you’ll be stuck with a single IAA instance in any single project.
If your going for ArpBu2 (which is one of the easiest to set up), you should consider the complete Clem Olcay bundle. Each utility is essential for using iOS devices as a modular playground. RhythmBud is part of the same bundle.

As others have mention the Bram Boss Rosetta suite is essential too (great bedfellow to the Clem Olcay tools).

And StepPolyArp is the daddy of them all. It was one of those apps that cemented my relationship with iOS as a serious music production environment. It does take a bit longer to learn than the other choices but it’s by far the most flexible and powerful.

so i bought arpbud2 is there a way to change the length of each step?
i would love to have one play for a quarter note, and then have 1/8 notes for the next 4 and the. keep cycling that way
BTW Aphelian is back in the store again
So get it. The stand alone is super cool, and the included AU3 are very well worth it, especially for “arps”
Someone needs to bring something like this to iOS…
cool
Thank you for the mentioning of StepPolyArp. I saw a post for the MidiCake Arp (hardware). Looked very cool and right up my alley. As I watched the demo, I thought, is there an iPad app that can do something similar. while StepPolyArp might not match MidiCake one for one, it will do for now.
Just saw your video using midicake .. Really great .. You certainly made quick work of it ! What a great box .. and now the new update
