Help with open source accessible app for blind musicians.
Hi everyone hope you're doing well and staying safe, as many of you may know I'm totally blind. As you may also know I’m an electronic musician. One of the biggest challenges faced by totally blind musicians is playing electronic music live, and it has always been a personal dream of mine to do this. Even though I cannot code I would like to start a project to develop a sampler for both Liv and Studio use that runs on iPad that is both accessible to blind musicians and also everyone else. The project will be open source. I'm looking for developers to help me with this project. If you can help or know anyone that can help please message me here for more information or comment this thread. I have a very good idea of what I need the sampler to do and what I would like the layout to be. I hope somebody can help me with this it is desperately needed in the iOS music landscape. I look forward to hearing from you all thank you for taking the time to read this thread kind regards Trey.

Hi @soundwarrior20 - I recall you started a thread on this earlier. It might be best just to continue that thread to avoid diluting the discussion.

Feel free to post again on that thread to bump it up to receive more notice if that was the reason for this new posting. It's an excellent topic and well worthy of attention!
Oh, I see that you have a different focus here - of a sampler rather than a midi sequencer and of open source collaboration. Please disregard my comment if a separate thread suits your needs better. Sorry for the confusion.
I’m really hoping somebody can help with this.
@soundwarrior20 I believe many of the current crop of iOS samplers support hardware triggers, so for example you can plug in a MIDI foot controller pedal and use it to trigger samples on Loopy Pro etc. What specific features would a blind-friendly sampler running on iPad need that existing iOS samplers don't have?
Just to be clear, this is partly for my own curiosity, and to try to trigger further discussion. While I write code, my knowledge of coding on iOS is basically non-existent, but I'm keen to see your project get some traction.
Blind people use something called the VoiceOver screen reader to navigate iOS, this is a text-to-speech system which reads the screen to you as you control the iPhone with gestures. Applications need to be compatible with the VoiceOver screen reader in order for blind people to use them, in the iOS music production landscape there are very few applications which are compatible with the VoiceOver screen reader these include samplers. I hope this helps, feel free to ask me any more questions :-) > @monch1962 said:
