Korg iElectribe or Korg Electribe Wave?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hmmm…I’d say Electribe Wave because it supports AUv3, is a groovebox + synth, and also has a Gadget 2 unlock. I don’t believe iElectribe has a Gadget 2 unlock.

  • Catch a Wave! 🌊
Particularly if you use Gadget too.

  • Electribe Wave by a mile, at least for me. As @seonnthaproducer said, you get AUv3, Gadget compatibility, and more options. :)

  • Decision made.

    Korg Electribe Wave it is.

    Back soon.

  • Electribe Wave does much more, but it’s ugly as sin.

Yeah, they’re pretty much 2 different animals in my book, the Wave would be a better investment at this point too imo

  • Look like the decision is made but for anyone stumbling on this thread later: iElectribe is a rather-good recreation of the Electribe R, which is a drum machine from the early 2000s. You can do a lot with it and it’s quite immediate, but it’s a drum machine, not a “proper” groovebox.

Electribe Wave is more in line with the modern Electribes and offers a very powerful wavetable synth engine, basic sample playback, groove templates for both timing and velocity, insert FX for each track, etc. IMO it feels like they designed it as a hardware follow up to the Electribe 2 but decided late in the process to make it an iOS app instead — there’s even a 64mb sample RAM limit.

  • Even thoug Electribe Wave has an AUv3 extension it’s only for the synth-part…
…it would be handy to have the drum parts as multi-out AUv3 as well…

Really?I actually like the design  Sleek, modern touch but not toooo modern or“experimental“.Nothing for skeuomorphism fans of course (which i also like).

    Noticed that bit.

    Couldn't agree more.
I actually was going to write something about that.

Overall I like it, it's a very quick and easy way to
    explore Wavetable oscillators.
It's got some nice presets as a starting point.

Straight of the bat? it sounds good.

  • The 2 IAPs not only provide presets but also extra wavetables.
Interestingly all of the wavetables are featured in Modwave.

    That's good to know.

I have SynthMaster i and ii, Drambo, MiRack and now Korg Electribe Wave.
I'm cool for wavetable synths etc.
What I was after was the drum side of KEW thinking it was going to be auv3.
It's not so I'm a bit disappointed there.

    +1

  • iElectribe is a great sounding drum machine though. The bass drums you can get from it are exceptional.

I'm keeping an eye on that one as well.
Can users import their own drum samples into iElectribe?

I'm having fun with KEW's drum machine and it grooves really nice.
I like drum machines so I don't mind if they're standalone.

  • If I had to choose one korg product it would be gadget w/ms20 and mono/poly and the arp odyssey. But the wave does have some sick sounds. Its way deeper and probly more useful than iElectribe. Although the electribe is nice cuz it feels like the one of the original first gen electribes. Its not really like my esx1 I dont think. If you already have gadget get wave but if you dont have gadget stick with gadget. If I had one single app to take to an island with solar power and a smoothy stand and my fav chair and maybe a thai food restaurant well gadget would be it for certain. And I have everything people use on here for the most part. When the app store recommends me apps I already have the whole list, which is sloppy, it seems they would recommend me stuff I DONT have unless I have bought so much even Apple thinks I have enough👻🤡

Or yes, even better, just get Gadget. And if you already purchased Electribe Wave, even better because, as me and Seonn said, it works in Gadget.

I'm that Gadget-user who has all Gadget-compatible apps and IAPs. Costed me hundreds and hundreds of dollars over the years, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't worth it. Ever since May, Gadget is mainly what I use. I did dive a little into Drambo and went back to NS2 in July/August, but Gadget just works for me.

  • Yeah, gadget is the better choice for making music

Just my opinion, of course, but to me it looks horribly muddy, due to the chosen colours.

I've now deleted all the inbuilt Patterns except one.
Does anyone know how to delete the inbuilt "default Songs"?

    Thanks in advance.

    Edit.

    Read the manual

There doesn't seem to be a way to delete them.

I'm going to overwrite them instead.
