Loopy Pro and hardware sequencers?
Anyone using Loopy Pro with their hardware? I’ve tried it with the Octatrack, and it’s pretty neat to use the Octatrack to sequence something in Loopy, resample it, add some Octa magic and resample to a Loopy donut.
I bet there’s some template magic I could set up to make switching the audio routing quicker.
Anyone else doing anything cool?

I think that the OP-Z might be the perfect companion, as it’s so fast to use, has a keyboard, is tiny, and connects via Bluetooth.
Can you describe the setup a bit more? This sounds really interesting!
I’m just heading to bed, but I’ll describe it in the morning!
@Michael_R_Grant I have my iPad connected up to a multi-in/out USB audio interface, and if I like I also have a MIDI interface to sync hardware and software together.
Using it is straightforward. I have the Yellow channel’s destination set to outputs 7+8 on the USB interface, which is where I always have the Octatrack connected. The Octatrack inputs also come in on their own channels.
Then, when I want to send audio to the Octatrack, I send it to the yellow channel. Or, I might just drag the loop to a yellow donut. If I have MIDI hooked up, I can sync it all. In that case I will use a 1-shot record trig on the Octatrack to grab the recording.
If I want to use the Octatrack’s midi channels to sequence an AU synth in Loopy Pro, it’s the same as using any external sequencer i.e. dead easy.
I like to keep it all synced via MIDI, because then I can record back and forth, and it’s all in time. Very very easy.
With this setup, I’m using the Octatrack more as a way to process and edit clips, rather than to arrange them. I can do the same in Ableton of course, but then I don’t have all the cool AUs from iOS.
I really really hope so as I'm due to have a Z appear here on Good Governance Day.
@JohnnyGoodyear It works great! Just tried it.
Muted all audio on the OP-Z (hold the mixer button + shift and select tracks to mute audio but allow midi out), and it just works. Loopy even has the bluetooth audio connection dialog inside its sync panel.
Still working on my preferred way to capture the audio, but it is super good. I prefer it to using Drambo, as I find the OP-Z much quicker to use. But Drambo is also a really nice partner.
I've been using my Launchpad Pro 3 with Loopy Pro, Using it to sequence both hardware synths and AUv3 synths, and recording into Loopy Pro loops.
The LP Pro MK 3 also works nicely as a controller for Loopy.
So I have an LP Pro running LP Pro
Gee, yesterday, I decided that I don't need Loopy Pro because I have an Octatrack and other gears but now, I'm full of doubts !
Loopy has a free 7-day trial!
Yeah, I'm on the trial and more I use it, less I want it. It's a very well thought design and I do understand why people love it but there's something I don't like. Can't say what at the moment. Maybe the donuts ? I bought Neon instead and it does the same, even better.
