  • my bad! I actually searched for a previous thread 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • I think that both threads are not exclusive each other.

One for discussing about the beta.

Other one for the actual release.

I should have missed that this is yet in the app store if not for this thread.

By the way, it's incredible the sound of this thing.

It's in a Rymdigare tier of awesomeness for creating experimental landscapes.

Congratulations for the release, @chowdsp !

  • Fantastic! Every ChowDSP app is an instant download for me. Can’t wait til Jatin tries to take on something as complex as a virtual instrument or anything else he’s interested in.

  • I hope he gets interesting in the physical modeling of instruments (like SWAM) but with extra FX algorhythms built into the app. He's a master at modeling circuits and I'd imagine a lot of his math skills would apply to physical systems for modeling as well.

  • This is surprisingly good!. Or not surprising at all given Chow DSP’s record.
I love the UI, how dragging the dots around changes time, panning… it’s extremely flexible, fun and wild or subtle. The different modes really make a difference in sound, love the analog algorithm.
Chow DSP certainly deserves a good amount in that Tip Jar (IAP are tips), spectacular job! 👋👋🙌🙌👏

  • How do they maintain this pricing model? Not a real question, just a wow reaction. The tip jar deserves a good workout.

  • Very cool. I hade criticisms about the interface but it's not so bad once I adapt. Really great fun just jamming through the microphone. Tipped. Thanks Chow.

  • I Thought that said CLOWN Matrix at first, lol I was intrigued

    Now that’s an Instabuy!

This dev has been a wonderful addition to the cadre of (imho) devs who is doing interesting things that sound great. Even if I do like the @NembriniAudio Minotaur better than the Chow version for faithfulness to the original; the Chow Centaur is a great example of how his versions of classic sounds are a little deconstructed and modernized. It’s almost like he can’t help himself in making them do things the originals couldn’t. And I’m definitely intrigued by exactly what the neural network does in his apps compared to different approaches. There’s certainly a sonic difference on the Chow Centaur.

Now, why the original Klon Centaur became so revered is utterly beyond me. I had a million chances to buy them when they were no more expensive than anything else. Honestly, I get that there’s a prettiness, but compared to an SIB Varidrive or the Z Vex Hard On, there is absolutely no comparison in what creates a more textured and complex sound while also simply rocking harder. So, all of you buying the software version rejoice because it wasn’t worth the ~$200 back then. Again, compared to what others were doing, the Klon Centaur was a flaccid penis.

I wish there were more Z Vex iOS clones. Some Lovetone stuff. SIB’s analog delay, too. What I want too is a Way Huge Swollen Pickle on iOS. And for those who have guessed that Swollen Pickle is a bigger, harder version of the Big Muff circuit, more Electro Harmonix!!! Fuck Fuzzface clones, even if Jimi played them. They were surpassed. And Ratts and TubeScreamers??? I guess it’s the same as SM57 fans. To me, it’s a preference for likeing thin, shallow sounds that erase as much humanity from the playing as possible by taking out the juicy harmonics and sag that turns bourbon music into LSD music.

Those halcyon early boutique pedal days were fun. That Z Vex Fuzz Factory. The Seek Wah… The Lo-Fi Loop Junkie… his aesthetic totally anticipated the simple endlessness that we have on iOS. Basically ApeSoft/Amazing Noises level imagination and ability to be extremely extreme. https://zvex.com : definitely take a look if you don’t know his stuff.

Sorry for the tangent. Summary is: @chowdsp rules!

    That would rock.
