Anyone else have this problem?

  • 15.1 here and no sound too…

  • That sucks. Pretty small chance of it being updated

  • Have tried an audio interface as well. No joy. I guess it’s dead.

  • I had this happen too.
I went into iOS Settings for iSpark, and changed the buffer from ‘automatic’ to ‘256’.
After that, I get sound again (even if I set it back to ‘automatic’ after).

The app still sits on the loading page for about a minute or so before the app fully opens, but now I can hear the sounds.

  • Dead on my ipad too shame i used this a lot at least i have it on a older ipad i hope it’s fixed but i doubt it will happen.

  • Brilliant and many thanks @CracklePot.

    The metronome worked with sound…

  • The buffer trick doesn't work for me. I can hear the metronome, too, though. I can't load a kit or project other than the one the app opens up with.

Thanks Cracklepot. The buffer trick didn't work for me either.

I've tried hosting it in AUM and Audiobus and no luck.

As others have mentioned. I do get the metronome but no sound from the samples.

  • It won't even load on my iPad 9th gen. Just freezes on the intro screen.

    Same here 🤷‍♂️

It looks like it's frozen but it takes a few minutes to load.

  • It's a shame that this app has been abandonned.
With round or random robin per velocity layers and the synth engine unlocked, it would have been my "dream drum machine". 😩.

  • It loads (but takes a long time) on my 2017 iPad Pro 10.5, but no audio, but the metronome is audible. Switching the buffer in iPadOS Settings didn't work for me. I'm able to load kits.

Right you are, I wasn't patient enough!

  • Such a nice software, still hurts that they abandonned it.Tiny little spot of hope: unlike most other Arturia stuff this is the other app done by @nlog Rolf Wöhrmann (iSEM) and not the Retronym guys.

  • Yeah mine stopped again.
    Again with the no sound.

    Wait, it’s back.
If I change the buffer in iOS Settings, then close iSpark, it works when I launch it.
I think I may have to do this again if it stops making sound.

Also, I suggest you avoid touching the lil’ orange dot up by the battery indicator. It made the audio break up, or stop even.

    This is pretty weird.
Try opening iSpark. If you get no audio, open iOS Settings for iSpark. Change the buffer, then close iSpark. Now relaunch iSpark, and hope you get audio.

So, I closed iSpark down for a while, and when I launched it again, I got no audio again. My buffer was still on 256, so I changed it back to automatic, closed and relaunched iSpark, and the audio worked.

    What a confusing hassle. 😵‍💫

This made me try the same thing with z3ta+. No luck. :-(

With the app running, change the buffer and close the app. Try relaunching to test it out.
I have to close and relaunch to get sound from iSpark. But it seems temporary, like I need to do it again if I close iSpark for a while and come back to it. It makes no sound until I change the buffer, then close and relaunch the app.

I’m not getting sound at any point other than metronome. If I go to the instrument browser it hangs on the loading screen. 😭 Contacted support.

Me, too. Given that the latest option for ios in the drop-down box in their support request form is ios8 I have my doubts, but who knows, maybe they still read stuff that's put in there...

Awesome. Well done. What email address did you use?

  • I found that if I turn off wifi it works as normal. Then turn wifi back on while open, and it still works.

Z3ta needs you to set the system date to a long time ago.

Edit. The fix is to manually set the time/date on your iPad to before Feb 2018

Wow. That worked for me too. Thanks for the work around.

Yes, I've noticed this too last night.
When wifi active, iSpark is taking ages to launch, got no sound out AND was stucked on the "Electro Shock" preset with no possibility to load anything else.

Works for me too. Amazing! Maybe it's trying to call home to a site that no longer exists.

Edit: I have a DNS monitor, and I see the following lookups during the slow startup. It looks up
    www.i-am-synth.com
    Then, after 50 seconds
    inappcheck.itunes.apple.com.edgekey.net
    Then, after another 50 seconds
    inappcheck-lb.itunes-apple.com.akadns.net
Since iSpark waits so long, it seems likely that these sites are not responding as expected, and the app waits for each attempt to time out.
