Klevgrand Pana, The Natural Panner - Tutorial and Demo

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/pana-natural-panner/id1596751927

Pana is the latest panner released by Klevgrand; it is a natural panner and utilises delays and filter techniques to generate the panning effect.

Panning can be achieved acting on volume for the different left and right channels or also applying a delay to the sound going to the channels (this method is know as the Haas effect). A more sophisticated way is also to apply a low pass filter to a channel and this is what Pana also does.

The interface of Pana is quite simple and it covers the following controls:

  • size, to adjust micro delays to emulate the size in a person’s head
  • roll off, to set the steepness and frequency of the opposite channel’s filter
  • pan knob, this acts as a macro control for the size and roll off dials and it allows you to pan fro one channel to the other. When this is set to max it will use the values set by the size and roll off dials
  • crossover, to set the internal splitter’s frequency. Frequencies below this frequency will not get processed
  • stereo button, to perform mono check
  • pan lock, to lock the panning as you browse different presets
  • correlation meter, green = left and right signals are in phase, red = there may be some phasing issues, middle = wide stereo

There is as always the possibility to save and select different presets.

I hope you enjoy, please do not forget to subscribe!
