(Help) Drambo - No sound when using as midi FX in BM3

edited January 2022 in General App Discussion

Hi, Im trying to use the humanizer in Drambo on a midi drum track. However, when I put it as a midi fx, I get no sound. I know it is probably some mistake I am making, can anyone point it out.

Thanks a lot.

Can you post a picture/screenshot of your setup? It might help.

    Oops. Accidentally reposted

  • Put the midi humanizer before the midi to cv and you should be good

  • That won’t help... it’s one of the mysteries of BM3 midi handling. Sent notes reach Drambo (which you can confirm by inserting Midi monitor module), Drambo passes notes (which you can confirm by adding a midi monitor plugin after Drambo), the rest is BM3...

    Unfortunately, still doesnt work.

Ah, so it is a BM3 mystery and not something I missed.

i tried and it works. i don't have beathawk. instead i used a synth on pad 1.1
i get sound. midi from track, altered by drambo midifx.
do you use 16 instances of beathawk?

  • I would just sample the sounds from Beathawk for starters as it makes things a LOT easier in the long run.

How are the Beathawk instances set up?
Do all the BH instances (and pads in them) receive on Midi Channel 1?
BH also has a quite tricky internal midi setup to begin with with omni mode or 16 part multi-timbrality etc.

I no longer have BH installed on my iPad and have no intentions of re-installing it in the near future...

  • Thanks for the replies.

Indeed, if i load up beathawk in 1.1 and play with the keys as mapped in beathawk, it works. But when i make a custom mapping, it doesnt.

Ive tried both by running 16 instances of Beathawk as in the screenshot (one instance on each pad, all in default setting so i think its setup in omni), and I have also tried by sampling the sounds from Beathawk in each pad. However, with both methods, it doesnt work. Drambo still shows that it is receiving midi in both cases, but there is no sound.
