Synth or AUV3 that has Chinese Instrument Sounds - specifically the GuZheng
Hi,
I’m looking for an synth that plays or sounds like the Chinese instrument GuZheng.
There are some apps that mimic this sound, but they’re NOT AUv3.
Here’s the real instrument in action:
I won’t be playing anything fancy; but I want my violin/guitar to mimic this sound. My idea is to see if there’s a synth that has this, and then use Guitar 2 MIDI to play it.
I am not sure how to search synth sounds to be honest? Maybe SWAM has something, but I didn’t see it.
Thanks!

Garageband has a guzheng.
Though you cannot use it as an auv3 you could write the piece in Garageband.
An alternative would be to instantiate it on another device,
trigger it using midi and record the output.
GarageBand. It’s a separate download, so look for it in the app.

Maybe check taqsim as they have a lot of world music instruments. And it's AUv3

The one in GarageBand is beautiful
There’s a GuZheng app by Super tintin Co. I think called iGuZheng. It’s quite nice and has a load of traditional Chinese tunes built in to listen to and you can of course play it yourself.
iGuzheng™ by Supertintin Co., Ltd
@cuscolima I saw that. I bought that. I regret that. Their oriental sounds a) are terrible b) you never know which instruments exactly, are in the sound pack.
Ok, sorry for this. In this case, I don’t know if I should suggest Beathawk as they also have asian instruments but…maybe not at the quality level you are looking for…but at least you can hear-before-buy with them ;o)
@cuscolima No worries. What’s marketed doesn’t always turn out to be what’s in the package.
SampleTank, apparently
SampleTank iOS Pro (Ethnic & Voices) has a couple GuZheng patches
Ah, a video from a classic era of iOS Music Creation, where Jorden Rudess was everywhere! 😂
There's a few Eastern instrument packs in BeatHawk, the ASIA pack has some very cool instruments that can be pitch bended to sound very close to a Guzheng.
I think the AFRICA pack has some stringed instruments that can be messed with too.
Edit: Sh*t, didn't see @cuscolima's post until I posted this; I would agree than not all of BeatHawk's instruments are great but the more middle Eastern and Asian one's aren't bad. The taiko drums with a nice reverb on them sound really good.
In GeoShred, the GuZheng is somewhere between Mouthharp and Koto Strum
There's a free soundfont (sf2) at DSK Music SoundFonts. You can play it in the SoundFonts app.
