Gross beat like app ?
Are there any gross beat alternatives on ios ?
Comments
I haven't used Gross Beat much, but probably GlitchCore covers a little bit of it from what I know of it.
Also Sector. One of the few non-AUv3 FX I still use just because it's sooooo good.

Bleass Slow Machine. Closest thing. It's actually very good.
Bleass Slow Machine and Effectrix are probably the closest
Edit
@mikita 4Pockets Atomizer is a good possibility… https://apps.apple.com/us/app/atomizer-auv3-plugin/id1450147164
Especially with automation
Also both of the FlyTapes (this is 2 https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fly-tape-2/id1552463664 )
Not sure if Flytape 1 is on the store, still
Looperator
+1 for Bleass Slow Machine and Effectrix
Like what @wim said:
Slow Machine slows the audio, but afaict doesn't behave like gross beat in that it's just slowed-down audio
Are we talking about this?
Yep.
Slow Machine goes between 100% and 0% playback speed in a lineair way, where as Gross Beat does sample “scrubbing” if i’m right.
Any new alternatives emerge in the past year? Still a gap from what I've seen
Sure, Drambo's Flexi sampler in Scratch mode, controlled by the Graphic Modulator, the Graphic Envelope or other signal generators.
Live, key-triggered effects could be done in the same way, by the help of MIDI Note Filter and MIDI To CV or an N-1 switch that chooses between different rhythmic patterns as a source for the different slicing or scratching effects.
Flux pro is my go-to https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/flux-pro/id1611411940 (or there’s the free flux mini version).
Also beat breaker in Logic is great.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/steppolyarp/id1361313588 everyone forgets to mention this app i guess.. im planning on using it as my gross beat alternative
That'll be interesting. I believe you, but it's hard for me to imagine how StepPolyArp can do that.
Yes, please enlighten us @tabdanger, I'm always happy to learn about new tricks 😉
Triggering a sliced loop from ooda (16 steps) can give you sounds, that you could produce in A totally different way with Grossbeat slicing something.
It's actually great fun to do (for me at least). It's a bit of a pity, that once you broke the sequence it doesn't automatically jump back to where it would have been. Maybe something like that can be done with steppolyarp, too?
Yep but that's classic slice triggering. GrossBeat is about finely adjustable rhythmic effects and scratching, no?
Ok, didn't make this vague enough

Of course Grossbeat can do a whole lot more, but you can use it for on the fly beatslicing.
