Drambo/Launchpad Pro/Finger Drumming Question

Probably a noob question but here goes. I have a Launchpad Pro MK3 in custom mode (Drum Grid) I want to set up some drums in Drambo to be played in live from the LP. I have it kind of working but struggling to get drums to be on the pads that I want them to be on. Does anyone know how the tracks in Drambo respond to midi? Is it like the Octatrack where each one shot takes up a track and has it's own midi channel?

The easiest way I found was to set one of the 16 pads in Drambo to be mapped to a drum pad on your controller. You’d do the MIDI mapping by tapping on the circle with 2 dots in Drambo, then tap on your controller.

I didn’t have my controller with me as of typing this but I was able to use the virtual MIDI Launchpad controller called GridInstrument (at the right of the picture below) and it worked as well.

Speaking of…I also went through a list of apps that support the Launchpad. I do have to add Loopy Pro to that list.

  • For sure! I'm using my Launchpad to control Loopy Pro and it's really nice. I have Drambo hosted in LP and want to set it up for my drums to be played in real time. Thanks for the tips!

In Drambo, itsTrack can be set to its own MIDI Channel, so make sure it’s set to the same Channel that your LP is sending from.

As far as Drum Track in Drambo, are the drum pads setup as Slices in FlexiSampler or how are you setting them up?

If they are in Flexi, the mapping starts at C2 and goes up Chromatically.

If you have a Drum kick that you got from PatchStorage, the key mapping may be different, so I’d use the keyboard in Drambo to figure out which notes are being struck.

Hope this makes sense. Let me know if it doesn’t and I’ll see if i can give you a more detailed response with a video.

Also, be sure and have the right MIDI Channel being sent from LoopyPro to Drambo via the MIDI Destination panel in LoopyPro…it’s in the upper right of the panel and allows you to send to your desired MIDI Channel. It’s set to All by default.

    Cheers.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate that. I watched your other video on mapping the other things but this should be helpful in figuring the rest out. Hello from the slack..we were chatting there about the Launchpad and APC.

  • This is a really nice DrumKit for Drambo if you’re not already familiar with it:
