Svengoolie Theme Cover - GeoSWAM Sax
I finally got a chance to take the GeoSWAM Tenor Sax for a spin.
Backstory: I wanted to created a video of this cool lion head sconce that I found many years ago at a thrift store. I needed some spooky music to go with it, so I decided to create a cover of the Svengoolie Theme. It was challenging trying to recreate all the parts, but the sax was the most difficult part. After several failed attempts, including with the Embertone Sensual Sax app, I remembered that I had never really gotten around to trying out the GeoSWAM sax instrument for GeoShred, which turned out the be the perfect solution. Played here on my humble iPad Air 1..
This was a formidable, but fun, little project. Hope you enjoy!

Wow! I seriously would have had a hard time telling if that was a real sax or not if I didn't know going in. That reedy, early bark on some of the notes was so good.
Great little song and video! I had to check out your YouTube channel and I have to say "Bone Dance" was really fun too. I look forward to seeing more of your creations.
Nice!
Really great job! I like the visual too.
You’re a master at this stuff. I'm guessing not all iOS?
Love watching Svengoolie whenever I get the chance. Nice cover song.
Thx! Yes, GeoSWAM can be amazingly expressive, if you practice and take your time to get it right.
Thanks, @MadeofWax ! Most of my stuff is on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Still slowly trying to up my video game, but it's a lot of extra work, and I really don't yet have decent cameras, tripods, lighting, etc. Just my aging iOS devices. I'm really overdue for a new iPad!
Thx! Found the lamp at some architectural salvage shop and just had to have it. I rewired it and tracked down one of those flicker bulbs for it. That was probably like 15 years ago. I enjoyed it for a brief time, but then packed it away and never took it out of storage after my last move. Finally decided it was time to break it out again. It looks so cool lying in bed at night in a dark room. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out a way to photograph it very well in low light with my iPad.
Thx, LL! The bass is Gadget Madrid. It's a mixture of platforms (tablet, desktop, hardware)... Even broke out the old Roland XV-5080 for the vibes!
Thanks, @NeuM ! I've become a huge Svengoolie fan! He had on Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers this week! (One of my top 3 favorite best/worst 50s Sci Fi flicks!)
It's hard to hear all the details of the theme song in the intro with all the voiceover talking and exploding rubber chickens and sound effects and whatnot going on. I may not have gotten it all exactly right but filled in best I could with what I could suss out.![B) B)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)

This is very good! You have serious production skills. Enjoyed it very much.
Also, having been born and raised in Chicago, Svengoolie has always been a favorite, since the days of the original - Jerry G. Bishop.
Berwyn!!!
Brilliant… great music and the whole thing puts a smile on your face. All in less than 90 seconds. What more could you want?
Excellent! Thanks so much!
For those who don’t know or who hail from other parts of the world.. Svengoolie is the host of a Saturday night TV program on the MeTV network that presents B movie Sci Fi and horror classics. He comes for a long-running tradition that originated in the early 60s Cleveland TV market with a host named Ghoulardi. Ghoulardi only lasted a few years, but he was massively influential, spawning a whole string of demented late-night horror hosts, including the Ghoul, and Svengoolie in the Chicago area, and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark in the L.A. area.
I grew up in the Cleveland area with Ghoulardi and the Ghoul and only recently discovered Svengoolie, which now airs nationally every Sat. night, but it’s the same basic schtick, and I was instantly a fan. It was amazing to discover that something similar still exists in this day and age. Really brings me back to my childhood days.
Thanks so much!
I was hoping you would upload a new project. You’re work is always inspiring. You make the GeoShred keyboard shine. I see you don’t bother to set up the key but just stay focused on the proper intervals to hit the right notes. @flo26 is also a GeoShred master so I suspect playing stringed instruments provides some additional benefits to using this UI.
Thanks! I took a break from more serious projects for this diversion. Like everything, it ended up taking way longer than expected.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I learned it back in the days before there was a "diatonic" option. I tried turning that feature on a couple of times but it just seemed to confuse me, so I turned it back off. I'm just happy the app still runs on my aging iPad Air 1!
Very nice!
Yes the standard layout works best for us stringed instrument players! At least that’s how I find it.
Good decision to post this. Well played one-hand Tenor Sax!
Almost wish this went on for another five minutes. You should come up with your own ending for the song since it never really ends anyway.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Ha! Thx! In this case, my attempt at an ending was to try to make the lion growl! (I used FM8 for most of the weird sound effects. Also Synthmaster.)
@Lady_App_titude, John Zacherly was the NY horror guy… his sidekick in a sack, Gasport, and lots of cauliflowers on strings being hacked to pieces. Perfect for a violent juvenile mind.
Ha! Hard to imagine in today's times, but the Ghoul used to blow up model planes and cars with firecrackers. Great skill to teach young kids!![>:) >:)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/naughty.png)
I blew up every plastic model I laboriously built!
What combustible did you use? I've been bombing for years with my piss poor material.
@McD, firecrackers, of course.
