and I think in this case it cuts both ways unfortunately... so I’ll stay away from both versions

1 is the one Hainbach was involved with before the acrimony

Does anyone actually know what happened? It did seem pretty weird when Fundamental 2 came out, being mostly similar to F1, then this free version with the grumpy description. It looks like the developer is aiming to "encourage" people not to buy the Hainbach collaboration version... but why?

There’s a description in the other thread. Only one side, mind.

  • I don’t own Fundamental, way too cryptic for me… I just downloaded this and I like the sound but have NO IDEA of how people use this… I can see it being used for droning. Maybe sampling it with Koala…
How do you people use this?. Would love to hear some ideas. Cheers.

It’s value is reflected in its price imo

I’m a bit confused as well.
I’m thinking that it might be a cool addition to D-bo. You can create some unique modulations and FX for it in there, and D-bo gets a new sounding multi oscillator.

Lots of uses for me. Sometimes it’s sample fodder that I turn into other things, sometimes it’s looped, sometimes it’s a drone, background embellishments. Or I’ll run it through multiple effects like Scatterbrain and Soundsaw, maybe a reverb too, and make a track of it. It’s my favorite iOS synth I think.

Likewise. It’s fascinating for drones and textures.

    Sorry.
    I mean Drambo.
(Just rewatched Friday the other day 😁 )

  • The jealousy towards @Hainbach and the fact that us ‘simple’ iOS users seem to like him so much is so distasteful.

We like him because he’s likeable.

Being nice is a wonderful trait.

I personally don’t feel comfortable downloading the free app. I’m going to buy Gauss to show some love to Hainbach and @brambos instead.

If it’s half as much fun as Wires it’ll be worth every penny.

Shove it through Looperator or Flux or Bleass Motion FX or something and see what comes out the other end.

Thanks. I have tons of weird drone type apps I use for these things. Kinda my bread and butter at this point haha.

Haven’t tried Wires but Gauss is a desert island app for me. I run multiple synths and drum machines into multiple instances of Gauss in AUM quite often. Insanely fun and capable of a lot of weirdness.

Nice! Let me know your thoughts on it. I was surprised at just how much I love it. But of course BramBos and Hainbach is a hell of a team. Really hope to see Gong Amp come to iOS one day.

  • Gauss is great, also one of my favourites :)

  • This works very nicely with this new MIDI plugin…

DUH 🤦🏻‍♂️ I don’t know why that didn’t click for me lol. Love the Friday movies though. Especially the first.

    Fundamental is very warm sounding!

Sorry to sound like Daft Punk:
ARP it, LFO it, Filter it, Effect it…

  • I love you all! This thread warmed my heart inspite of the mess.

Thanks for everything you do, and I’m sorry you’re having to experience this situation. Do you have any more co-developed apps in the works? I love Gauss!

Mmmmm imagine a Hainbach co-developed iOS recreation of this stunning sounding Soviet synth...

  • Great tips on how to put it to use, thank u all!.

I have BLEASS Motion FX. Tried it and sounds great. Used 2 instances, one for volume for a scatter effect and a second one with random grainy delay. Lovely!. Also tried with the BLEASS tremolo butterfly thing, it’s great too.

Cool. If you have BeatCutter it might be worth running it through that. You never know what you might get.

I’ll be honest, it’s totally out of my comfort zone. I’m not a looper kind of person which is why I didn’t buy it previously.

But I have quite a few bits of hardware which will be fun to use with it I think, as well as using it for sound design and just basically mucking about when I don’t have a project I want to work on but want to have a bit of a jam.

So yeah looking forward to finding some time to have some fun with it.

I have recently bought a little zoom H1n recorder (which is great! Works as a tiny audio interface with iOS CCK too!) and I can use it with or without the iPhone to record sounds. Might be fun running some found sounds through Gauss.

So yeah. Should be fun and it’s good to take yourself out of your comfort zone sometimes.

I’m not into ambient music (I don’t listen to much ambient and don’t know how to make it as I get bored and need to add drums too quickly!) but I think I can make it work for my kind of music.

I don’t necessarily make ambient myself. I use it for more experimental drones, background textures, or running found sound through it to make some percussive patterns for a track. The sequencer really adds a lot to the mix once you dive into that sorta thing.

Excited to see how you like it later down the road. I didn’t really get that into loopers until I got my 707. Using it to loop all the weird, noisy, glitchy type apps I have is so much fun. Same for Gauss, L7 from AudioKit, etc.

I haven’t used my hardware with it yet but funny you say that because I was just thinking about how cool it would be to run my microfreak through it.
