Synth One - MIDI learn - preset selection

Hi, is it possible to use midi learn to program “preset selection” on Synth One?

This will determine whether I buy a Bluetooth Midi Pedal so pretty vital for me.

Thanks!

I guess you mean AudioKit SynthOne, not SynthMasterOne. Good to confirm the exact app name though. And that would be running stand-alone, not in a host, because it is not AUv3.

AudioKit SynthOne responds to MIDI Program Change messages, selecting a preset in the current Bank. It must be foreground, or Background Audio must be enabled. You can send direct through Core MIDI, or use the AudioKit SynthOne virtual MIDI port from another app. It does not respond to MIDI Bank Select messages. You should be able to use Favorites if you want to collect presets for a playlist.

Edit: I realize I did not answer your question. I believe it is not possible to MIDI Learn commands for program selection in AudioKit SynthOne. The response to Program Change is just built-in to the app.

Also, depending on what messages your Bluetooth MIDI Pedal sends, you may need a script to translate them into PC messages. For example, you may use one button to step up, another to step down, maybe another (or long hold) to reset to zero. The script would implement a counter, and send a PC message whenever the counter is changed. Note that PC is an absolute message. You cannot select a preset in the synth, then go up/down from there. You'd need to adjust the program number in the script.
