15.3 is out, any issues?

Seems stable, nothing to report.

  • Have not noticed any issues yet on my iPad Air 2 or iPhone 8...

The Steinberg/Yamaha Driver has some 'KP Issues' under macOS 12.2 (these were not preset under macOS12.1) causing a Kernel Panic during sleep (about 15 minutes after I put the computer to sleep).

Don't know if it affects the M1 Mini's but on my 3Ghz Intel i5 MacMini it's highly repeatable and I've sent around 10 crashlogs to Apple already...

...current solution is to not put the computer to sleep but turn it off properly when needed.
Apparently macOS12.3 is not that far away...

  • I've not noticed anything on my iPad 6.

  • All fine on my iPhone 4

I personally don’t like the new app layout on ipad.

The rest seems okay for now.

    Edit.

I really don’t like the new icon layout.
Anyone here figured out how to get it back to pre iOS 15?
I took the leap from iOS 14.7.1 to the most recent iOS.
The new layout is a bit of a shock.

    Impressive :D

@Gravitas Agreed. Apparently it’s so the widgets work better, but there must be a better way…

Agreed there must be a better way.

I’ve had a look at some of the responses and so far no joy.
Personally speaking I don’t use widgets.
I only use music and graphics apps and I don’t play games or watch online streaming.
I’m going to be miffed until I adjust.
    Whomever made the icon decision?
Please look in the dictionary for all of the expletives you can find?
They are applicable to you for about a split second.
    That’s it.

    Wow.

Okay, Adjusting, now making new layouts and I’m not going to grumble for to long.

Why not have user adjustable grids?
It’s not that complicated I’m sure.
    Oh well.

  • Already, dam they pump out these OS updates faster then I can even keep up.

  • I experienced something that felt like a memory leak in Safari. After watching videos for a while the browser would become really unstable and webpages would crash and reload. Rebooting was the only way to fix it.

Now I’m on 15.4, which is showing the same behaviour. iPad 6, so maybe 15.3 and up just don’t get along with the older hardware.

  • I’m still on 15.1 I believe.

  • Will update later, but have had no issues with any recent versions at all. Seems like there’s been some good quality control for quite a while now.

  • After updating to iOS 15.3 I’ve started experiencing occasional audio drop-outs of about 1 second or so when listening to already downloaded lossless Apple Music tracks on my iPhone XS when played back via USB connection in my car, and via AirPods 2. I’ve never experienced this before. It’s pretty infrequent, but kind of occurs in clusters when it does. I don’t think I’ve rebooted yet since the upgrade, so will try that now.

The new layout is a bit of a shock.

    I've a couple of suggestions/observations.

In Settings–>Home Screen and Dock, you can enable Use Large Icons, which may help some. Still doesn't return to the classic layout, of course. If you have a large screen device, it may have defaulted to small icons, so you can pack in more stuff.

You may not realize that you can now have a different Home Screen icon order for landscsape and portrait views. As always, you can only change the order; iOS will determine the layout.

Finally, you must realize that your experience is 4 months behind the curve. You can find the reactions of most users in the earlier iPadOS 15 threads. This is old news.

    Yup, found that.
    The difference was minimal.

    Found that as well.
It’s annoying to have to configure two layouts when before it was adaptable.
I only use my ipad in landscape mode so it was easily done.

Yup, I realised that after wading through tons of media articles
and comments via the Apple Communities thingy.
The main thread for that had 415 replies with no solution.
I had gone through several pages before I complained about
the new app layout on this thread, hence why I worded my 2nd comment
the way I did and I have already adjusted.
My new layout fits the way I use my ipad and that’s it.
As long as my music apps function the way they need to I’m not that bothered.
    The rest is just phaff.

  • Not a music or production issue, but I have noticed that getting and keeping a stable Bluetooth connection in CarPlay is more of a problem after the update.

  • What iPhone?

iPhone 11 Pro running the latest iOS.

  • Ok cool thanks

CarPlay varies in reliability for me from version to version (nothing major usually, but small irritating things), but I’m more inclined to blame Hyundai, who let years pass by between CarPlay updates rather than test their implementation for each iOS release.

I saw something in settings that let you change app icon sizes back to larger size. I wonder if that affects how the apps rearrange when you go from portrait to landscape. I hate that. Small issue in the grand scheme of things though.

  • @Poppadocrock
The large icon size in iOS 15 is the small icon size from iOS 14
and the size difference between default and large in iOS 15 isn’t that large.
My idevice with iOS 15 is an Air 3 so it’s defaulted to small icons.
UncleDave has mentioned we can have individual layouts for both landscape and portrait.
As I only use my iPad in landscape position I personally couldn’t be bothered.
Yeah, it’s a minor bug bear hence why I grumbled for a split second,
rearranged my carefully laid out icons and carried on with what I needed to do.

The music side of things works so that’s all I’m really concerned about.

Apps no longer rearrange when you go from portrait to landscape. You can configure both independently. Of course, they start out the same, but a change to one no longer affects the other. I use some "iPhone" apps that only support portrait, and I've positioned them for easy access in portrait view.
