Plugging mic into Cubasis?
What is the least expensive way to plug a mic (you need an AI, I assume) into iPad for recording in Cubasis? Thx!
Comments
Either that or a USB microphone.
@Schmotown … are they any good for vocals. I assume you would plug it in to a cck?
Is there something like an iRig that would allow a plug in of a 1/4 Jack mic? @McD? You know this stuff. I may collaborate with a singer who has an iPad.
The Audient ID4 (USB-c) features micpreamps way better than the price suggests.
It works with the 2nd generation CCK (additional iPad charge input) and current iPads.
(equally well with dynamic and condensor mics)
@LinearLineman call your Sweetwater sales contact. The lowest cost option I could recommend would be the Shure Motiv MV5 for $99. It comes with a Lightning and USB cable option so you wouldn't even need a CCK adapter or an audio adapter:

Find the budget of your collaborator and work your way up from here. Shure mic's are industry standards.
As you know... processing a vocal track can use all the tools you have ben buying for years: like Mic Swap Pro, etc.
Don’t forget to check on reverb. I found an Irig hd interface for 25 bucks! Sometimes there are some good deals on there
Thanks @Telefunky @McD @Jmd8928 . That helps a bunch! @McD so Cubasis would recognize the Shure mic? Where would it pop up?
This looks good too..
I find the Rode NT-USB quite nice, and it's not much more expensive than the iRig HD2.
I recommend the Shure MV51. Great quality, easy to use. Only recommend if you want to do one track at a time, which goes for all of the usb mics - that is of course unless you connect a keyboard with Bluetooth MIDI.
There’s also the Apogee. I haven’t used it but it’s likely very good https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MicPLUS--apogee-mic-plus-for-ipad-iphone-mac-and-windows
If you want to spend a bit more I would recommend the AudioTechnica AT2020+USB.
Recently, I've just been grabbing my old Tascam iM2 which you can find on eBay for under $20. It does the job very well, but you need a 30 pin adaptor, which ironically costs more than the mic.
