  • Oh boy... this is hot!

  • Sounds great. I’m in

  • It sounds really good.

I’ve yet to explore all the patches but my first impressions are it’s really nice.
    Looking forward to @LinearLineman ‘s and @Daveypoo ’s thoughts.

  • Agreed with @Gravitas
Guess both of them will have a blast with this

Hmmmm - sounds interesting, but I deleted Beathawk off my iPad a while back in favor of other apps, so as curious as I am, I'll likely miss out on this one. We definitely need more Wurly EPs here, though - Neo Soul Keys Studio 2 has two, but we need some more variety of flavors as we do for Rhodes EPs.

Thanks for taggin me, though @Gravitas - I listened to the SoundCloud examples on UVI's site and it sounds good. I'm curious as the the depth of sampling and the response, but so far so good ;)

    No worries.
I’m more of a guitarist than a keys player though I do love playing keys.
At the moment I’m up to my eyeballs in a 40 track electronica project which
I’m about half way through so I’m not going to be able to give the attention
it deserves for a few more days.
So far so good though in regards to the new Wurli sound pack.

  • I really want this one. Demo sounds good. I’ve bought nearly all the add on libraries for beathawk. Hmm, For some reason- the Wurli library isn’t showing up for purchase in my app.

    Same here.

    Wurli (we are early).

  • The library showed up this morning in my app. Purchased it. 297mb download. The sounds are good! Gonna have fun with this...

  • Is Doug's review still the only one available (except the official demo)? Anyone has actually tried it? How does it sound "in real life"?

  • I originally got an ipad not to long ago just to find a wurly and rhodes app after I sold my 76. So ive got all the usual suspects. Like the others especially crudebytes pack its got some weird phasey-ness baked into it.
But there are 2 dry patches that in my opinion are what should be considered the best for solo playing. the korg module one was the best ive played until this one, but still just did not sound right for some reason. Its amazing that the download is only about 250mb.

    Cheers

Thanks for the comments! I think I'll go ahead and buy it!

So you rate this one in Beathawk above the ones in Module and Neo-Soul Keys Studio?

  • UVI do a spectacular job of repurposing their multi-gigabyte libraries to a fraction of their memory footprint to run on a wide set of iOS hardware. I think that's the primary reason to get them. They sound good, and they don't bring your hardware to the edge of its performance capabilities if you're using older hardware.

IMO of course, I feel as though some have been lacking with one thing or another and none have supplied just a basic staple base sound in which to record with, and then manipulate as though I was recording a real wurlitzer. Manipulating it the way I feel sounds good is huge for me. But hey im an idiot and I am the type that would rather not show up with a pbass to a recording session and probably be sent home. My sense of musical taste and asthetic is not normal by any means. Therfore my opinion would naturally follow this path aswell.

Anyone able to offer up any thoughts comparing this with @AcousticSamples VTines Live, which I thought (I don’t own it) was the current benchmark for Mark1 Rhodes on iOS?

This looks to be about $15 for BeakHawk + the Wurli IAP vs $22 for VTines (though VTines was on sale for $15 last March).

For Rhodes vtines IMO is solid and I love it. The day they bring Vreeds to ipados is a happy day for me. "Vreeds","Broken wurli" and "Sampleson Reed piano"are my tops for desktop. Sampleson has my least favorite tone. But man you cant beat a 45mb package for a reed instrument

    Cheers
