Euclidean Sequencer (4Pockets) Demos (1st with pads, 2nd more percussive)
I have a free copy of ANY 4Pockets app to give away. Winner will be chosen randomly and announced in two days. To have a chance to win simply a) subscribe to my youtube b) give the video a thumbs up c) write a comment in theYT comments section, any comment will do but please remember to mention which 4Pockets app you would like to win! I will also have free copies to give away on my Twitter and Insta though it will take maybe an hour after this vid launches to get those up.
The vid will be a premiere, so pop in for a chat! It’s been a while. 😉
This is a short ambient demo of 4Pockets new Euclidean Sequencer for iOS / ipad / iPhone. I find it very enjoyable. Here you will hear me using a lot of pad like sounds in order to show off the gating function. If using very staccato sounds it is harder to discern differences in gate length of notes. Overall my intention was simply to use it to make something musical sounding, but along the way you will learn how many of the main features work and see features like live playing with the sequence notes, rotation and so on. I didn't use the randomise feature live as it would likely have had unmusical results, plus pressing randomise leads to a small drop out in audio. The app has no shuffle feature but I have at times got some nice jazzy Rhodes sounds by feeding the midi from Euclidean into the 'Apply Swing' Mozaic script (an app by Bram Bos with lots of free patches on Patchstorage). I am also using that script here, though the results are not that noticeable due to the pad sounds I am using. Paul the developer has a series of walkthroughs you can watch for a more detailed guide to the app on his Paul the Musicman channel.
What I Iove:
Playing with the arrows to move sequences up, down, left or right.
Ability to change speeds of individual bands (killer feature!)
Seamless program changes
The gating function
Ping pong and reverse are fun to play with in real time.
My feature requests:
No audio drop out when randomising
Add an internal shuffle mode
Allow randomisation of single parameters like velocity without actually randomising the steps / sequence.
Ability to exit a dialogue box by tapping outside it rather than needing to press 'x'
Would like more choice of scales
Overall i think it is an enjoyable addition to my midi tool kit and will definitely be using it.
Comments
Can one band offset the note values of another band?
A jazzy demo:

No, but that would be cool
See you in the comments — money is tight these day 🥴
I know the feeling brother!
From 4pockets facebook:
I just want to clarify that Euclidean Sequencer (Version 1.03) will support both PolyMeter and PolyRhythm modes.
I know this has been a big request which many of you are waiting for. I am still busy adding additional functionality but this version should be available around this coming weekend.
Sweet!
For those unsure of the difference:
Polymeter: different voices/instruments that play different meters that de-synchronize themselves (a 9/8 piano part against a 4/4 drum part, or 7/8 on a 3/4.
Polyrhythms: different subdivisions that fit in the same bar. The classic Christmas tune "Carol of the bells" is an example of 2 against 3. Traditional Cuban rumba, and lots of West African drum rhythms use 6 against 4.

Paul was kind enough to give me an extra code for Euclidean and i decided to share it with the community Who wants it? I'll wait til there are about ten comments then pick a winner at random ✌️
🙌🙏🤞
Why not eh? 🤟
I’ll have a go. Thx @Gavinski !
Hi @Gavinski! I can’t fall back asleep… Throwing my name in the hat 😎
@Gavinski I’ll definitely have a go.. 👍 🤞
join me in please
I never win something but with a change 1 to 10 I feel lucky
Can I count to 10?
No I cannot.
How about "about 10". Nailed it. I'll set this up for someone to spike the ball.
@Gavinski I'd like to enter. Looks fun!
ten!?
FYI: I already bought this rather cool sequencer and have been having fun with it.
🤞
I’m in!
OK gonna do the draw now!
I´m in if I´m not too late!
11 entries, not including McDs crafty attempts at extra entries lol.
So the lucky winner is @raabje 🎉🎉
I'll dm you your code now 🔥
Wow, that is just great!
So I did truly feel lucky today. Big thanks for Gavinsky & Paul. I will give it a spin ASAP.
Not all that much craft... I could make you a video showing you the steps involved but I won't. That takes so much time and then no one watches them all the way and they want free apps.
😂
