Loopy Pro - UPDATED - We Can Now Use Our Inter-App Audio Apps - iPad Tutorial
I think this is a great update.
There are still tons of great Apps out there that do not support AUv3, and probably never will.
I had a lot of fun in this session playing with some IAA stuff in Loopy Pro, drums are Future Drummer, then some Korg Synths, some other stuff, it was fun.
I know we can use IAA in AUM, Cubasis, etc, but I think because Loopy Pro is so new, and gaining a massive following among people who may never normally play with IAA apps that this update just might revive some interest in some of those classic apps.
I actually came across ARGON whilst browsing the IAAs, although I don't think Argon is on the App Store anymore you may have bought it years ago and forgotten about it.
There must be stacks of these forgotten Apps that could just add an extra bit of inspiration to the mix.
I hope you enjoy the video.

Shouldn’t we be entitled to request our money back ?
If it can possibly run on your iOS why shouldn’t you be allowed to have it, you paid for it
Get in touch with icegear and ask them to put the app back in the appstore.
Casini suffered a similar thing when it was removed from sale.
Thanks. I didn’t notice the update. So cool. For now I prefer hosting multi-out AUs in AUM. But now I have a new way to connect Loopy and AUM: feeding an AUM IAA output into LP instead of hosting LP in an effect slot in AUM. I think I prefer the new way.
They have no 'legal' obligation to do that...
...they (Apple) are not running a 'samaritan welfare operation'
We can always wish for that to be the case but even the venerable webarchive.org is starting to remove stuff as it becomes too expensive to maintain the archive...
(Ie. more and more 'binary downloads' that were once hosted on web-pages are getting removed).
In the case of Cassini the developer has removed it from sale as it's no longer supported by him, same with Argon.
Once 'side loading' becomes a thing its free for everyone (with the content from the developer off course') to start a web-archive of old apps that may or may not work
Apps are 'commodities' not 'investments' like most digital media...
It's more like a grocery store that runs out of your favorite products, they get replaced with new ones.
So you can still get bananas but maybe not your favorite brand
I'm not defending Apple but being realistic, If Apples was a 'Library' they would have other laws to comply to...
...but unfortunately they are not.
They run a business and what 'use' is there to keep apps on servers that won't even run on the current OS version?
What's next? Filing a class action law-suite against Apple to set up a 'Legacy Appstore' for unsupported devices?
Another example is that I can no longer 'activate' my old iPhone 3G or iPhone 4 or iPhone 5...
...Apple doesn't allow that, they both still work ok as phones but are pretty much useless.
Oh well, it is what it is...
...I don't think Apple gives a sh*t about our moaning to be honest...
Can you elaborate on why you prefer this approach?
Is loopy pro hostable via iaa? I can’t see it in the list in aum
I like that Loopy can be in full screen instead of being in a window when hosted in AUM. Moreover you can have 8 IAA outs of AUM that you can route into LP. With the other solution you can route only one. Switching between AUM and LP is easy by tapping on the respective icons. IAA sync seems to be tight as well. I just hope the state is saved as good.
Very helpful, thank you.
Also, Loopy Pro cannot host AUs while it itself is hosted as an AU in AUM. This way, you can use both.
This would be my reason. Same reason I’d want to host IAA loopy in AUM but I don’t think it’s hostable this way is it?
