Yes, but I can’t run the output through AUM or easily create MIDI files. That would be something I’d like to see in a stand-alone app.

True, but you can edit the drums in GB, then render a track and use it in any other DAW you have in mind. I just prefer to use GB.

Which is fine, but I still think an app that generates drum MIDI would be amazing.

I've got Audiolayer in the sale. And after some tinkering I am able to import multi sample drum kits from my own collection, like acoustic Kontakt and Battery kits, and an old Akai sample cd rom(Bob Clearmountain).

Took me some time to make it work, I need to convert other file formats with Translator to EXS format.

And I pulled the kits from Logic (and Garageband that is inside Logic) from my laptop and imported this in Audiolayer.

Only thing is, sometimes when the drum kit samples are pitched, like Bob Clearmountain, kick drum is +24, snare +20, hihat +7 etc, this settings get lost in the conversion and import. I have to repair this in Audiolayer.

Batch import is a slow proces, with a larger collection at once. Right now I have a 7GB collection, that will be enough for a while. If it sounds better than other stuff, I don't know yet.

And, once imported, in Audiolayer, the instruments cannot move between folders (AFAIK). So my collection is a little bit a mess.
