And just like that: POOF! Flo is gone…
I hope he’s content with his decision. I’ll certainly miss his jams and his thoughtful comments in the various guitar threads.
If he ever chooses to return, I’ve checked, and “The Artist Formerly Known As Flo26” is still available! 😉
Comments
But his content remains. We’ll never know if he did it or @Michael.
People who leave have a choice to announce it or know. Neither choice seems to be a good one. At least Flo got to read how much he was valued.
Here he is singing and playing my lyrics… a real French cowboy.
I don’t know about whether it’s a good choice or not.
For the community it may not be perceived as a good one
but it’s a choice he made and I respect that.
Regardless, he will be missed.
Agreed.
I remember this when it was first posted up.
Thank you for sharing it again.
🙏🏾
@Gravitas, I didn’t mean leaving. I meant the announcement. I don’t think it worked out Ashe intended.
Ahhhh.
Yeah, I see what you’re saying.
It can be a difficult one I suppose.
When I decide to go I’m gonna get myself spectacularly banned. That’ll be far more satisfying, and I can spend many entertaining hours fantasizing my coup de grâce until then.
When I go, I will send back a letter from America. Just as the Reid twins requested.
When I go I’m gonna link all my iOS tracks together and wordlessly post it slowly fading out over 30 hours.
Gone but not forgotten... I'll check for new video content on his channel.
Yeah @McD, we should all make a point to post Flo’s new videos here on the forum to help support him in his new adventures. He was a great contributor here.
At least I followed his Youtube channel before he disappeared from here. I don't get why the complete self removal from the forum myself when he can simply abandon his account instead, but hey. It is what it is. His choice. I'll miss him, but I wish him well on all his future endeavors.
We would probably get close to some Bull of Heaven track lengths......
You can go like Flo, and leave a trail of breadcrumbs to your YT channel (All the best, Flo!)
Maybe grump out like Monzo.
Or disappear without a trace.
A common exit is the right winger who just…can’t…help…themselves…and end up spouting some offensive nonsense and go and get themselves banned (maybe it’s the same person coming back over and over again?)
I will leave my credentials in my will so my wife can post when I’ve truly left the building.
Flo left a forum-suicide note and committed forum-suicide.
😂 Forum-suicide by forum-cop.
I wonder if he got that my comment suggesting that he “Carry on oh wayward son. There’ll be peace when you are done. Lay your weary head to rest. Don’t you cry 😭 no more.” was a little joke and actually the Kansas tune lyrics?
I'm pretty sure he's hoping it will lead to something better for him. I don't think you get to that level of mastery by wasting your time. He's also copping to some serious mood issues and "if thine eye offend thee". I don't think its personal... probably more like a new years resolution to sound more time doing "X" for whatever his "X" might be.
It's kind of a miracle that he spent so much time here since he's not really into the apps the forum values the most: innovative DAW's, groove boxes, modulars, synths and drum machines. He uses a few very trusted IOS tools and doesn't swap them out easily. But his Youtube channel is starting to focus on app demos and I hope the makers like Nembrini, etc are going to help him grow his channel and get some revenue from the effort. I suspect musicians in the time of covid are all searching for ways to use their skills online.
At least we still have [deleted user]
We will never replace [DELETED USER] with just any ol' [DELETED USER].
Now, [DELETED USER] I could live without.
Wow. This is a self-canceling culture.
Maybe name them deleted user 1, 2, 3... trying to be helpful here since I don’t contribute much, or at all
This forum runs on some open source software called "Vanilla" and this is hard coded behavior that @Michael can't change but he can administer the "asp" on request. Did you know there's an "ignore" feature. Like [DELETED USER] it destroys context that is often needed but it's available to "asp" someone to STFU.
I somehow missed all this drama. Can anyone share a link to the thread where he said he was leaving?
Here you go:

Thanks Richard, Iove a little drama from time to time. It always fascinates me this announcing 'I'm leaving' type of thing. I guess people feel that it adds a certain finality, and if they don't announce it they may not stick to it. I'd be very surprised if these people didn't continue to lurk from time to time though. Gonna give this a read now 😉
There was no drama... of course if you want to see drama you can find it anywhere
This is the second time he considered leaving. At least he left on a good vibe.
The first time I recall he was pissed with something regarding "too much tech and app talk, not much music"
But he decided to stay, and it's good because he was always sharing some music and jams/experiments
I generally don't leave, but I noticed this week that I barely miss the facebook group (The original "Ipad musician"). And that was a place I used to read and comment a lot. I check now once a month or two
Here the conversations are more engaging
Indeed, seeing the thread it was a very mild-mannered exit.
Classy actually. He asked @Michael to help him quit like a drunk asking you to pour out his last bottle. I think it was a good thing thing for him but a semi-total loss for us. Of course, we don't really know all that much about each other and I think that's wise as a general rule.
But some new guitar focused app will drop and well wonder... "What does Florent Roux think?" and we'll have to click over to Youtube and to find out.
Most won't bother but most don't play guitar and those that do probably shouldn't.
I have had serious thoughts about doing something with my life and the first thing I would do would be to delete my account. It can be quite liberating if you have a new plan on what's important. Everyone says "Just leave it in case..." but that's that what a good plan usually start out with... an escape clause, is it?
Here comes the drama queen
This is a yearly tradition here, our used to be back in the day; Flo quitting the forum. Relax, he’ll be back come spring.
