iPad Touch Sensitivity?

I have been noticing that keystrokes don’t register well on my 12.9 2nd gen pro. I have to be very deliberate in hitting each key squarely. Any advice or similar experience out there? (No screen protector)

  • I’ve seen few discussions in this topic across the web...
Like you mentioned, sometimes a magnetic case was blamed. In other cases it was the iPad orientation (laid down vs standing), or iPad on charger becoming less responsive... I haven’t seen definitive answers or solutions... some models seem to be more effected than others... imo it could even be something that comes and goes with iOS updates (I recall having this on my air2 at one point, but then after an update the issue disappeared. 🤷‍♂️

  • Thanks @0tolerance4silence. At least ikm not alone! Seems like it could be an update thing, but my other two devices are fine.

  • @LinearLineman
I’ve had a similar issue in the past with my Air 3.
    It comes and goes.
Saying that it hasn’t happened for over a year now.
Sometimes simply changing the power cable will solve the issue or the power charger
or as @0tolerance4silence has mentioned an update will also solve the issue.

Yep, on my Air3 it can be reproduced fairly consistently. It gets triggered when iPad is on charger (battery reaches ~90%) and the magnetic case is folded back (so the magnet is close to iPads magnetic (keyboard) ports). Haven’t updated this device for years, so kinda learned to live with it.
Should have pushed a bit harder during the lockdown to find a way to get a replacement, but was too lazy :)

@Gravitas, I never use my iPad while hooked up to charger, so I don’t think it’s that. It’s def device specific, tho. My other iPads work fine. Fortunately, I only use the 12.9 for music, so not much of a problem there. And no case is involved.

Make sure there’s enough moisture on your hands and fingers. Sometimes when my fingers are dry the capacitive screen doesn’t register as well.

A little lotion in the winter is never a bad thing. 😜

  • Thx @echoopera. I do have that issue, but no problem with other iPads.

    Similarly here as well.

My one is doing really well for me here.
I don’t have a magnetic case though I do have the smart keyboard for it.
It’s stopped the screen sensitivity so all is cool for now. :)

    Good to know.

Also after giving the screens on both of my ipads a good clean
I have to have a little bit of oil or moisture as you say on my finger tips.

In regards to the hand lotion?
    Agreed.
My mother used to say to my brothers and I when we were growing up.
    Use hand lotion.
    Your girlfriends will appreciate it.
    Good advice. 😏
