Minimalist setup
Hi,
while advising someone what to do while lacking sp404 I came across an idea I will do a minimalist set up on my phone.
Maybe that will help with being too lazy and not creating any more.
-Koala for sampling, samples etc
-Grooverider for fun, melodic, drums
-Drambo for randomly triggering samples in Koala and more
And here are my 2 questions:
1) Where to host it? Sync with ableton link, but how to host it apart AUM or Audiobus 2?
Is there any other clean and simple option? (Not looking at Cubasis, there is nothing wrong with it, lol)
2) Is there a fun, creative, touchable with plenty of modules/units FX app? Like FluxFX (which is no longer avaible) and *?
*Sorry! I thought iKaossilator is a Kaoss pad for ios 😬
All the best
Comments
Sorry I don't know Grooverider, but Drambo is an AU3 host and can host Koala just fine. No need to buy a separate host for Drambo and Koala - maybe someone else can comment on whether Grooverider will also run inside Drambo.
Drambo comes with a bunch of FX, but if you want something a bit wilder then Turnado might fit the bill.
Yea drambo is also a host.
I’d say AUM, but Besides AUM and Audiobus 3, there’s all the daw’s, plus Apematrix, AUHost (which doesn’t have the best reviews. Probably a few I’m missing.
+1 on Turnado, the other SugarBytes effects apps also offer lots of options and control. Bleass has another rhythm based one, Motion FX. iFx Rack and MixBox CS are more guitar based.
Thank you guys.
Unfortunately all Sugarbytes apps apart from Unique are ipad only..
I found Elastic FX universal, which will be a way to go for me when just for mindless „doodling”.
Maybe add later
Bleass Motion FX anf FB1.
Drambo/Audiobus or Aum for host.
It will do.

2) Koala fx
Nanostudio 1 was great on iPhone. I assume 2 may be as well? Koala in N2 is nice.
Not a Drambo guy myself, but based on what I’ve heard about it, why not just get rid of everything except Drambo? Surely it can cover every conceivable need of yours and would certainly lend to a minimalist set up
I thought @cokomairena had posted a video hosting GR-16 inside Drambo. But maybe i'm tripping
But this is an awesome example of pairing GR-16 with Koala
That's great!
Koala FX comes to mind, especially since you have Koala.
Drambo also allows you to make multi unit FX apps. That's my go-to for crafting complex effect chains for the iPhone, since Mixbus is iPad only.
