Changing midi channel for all CC’s in a AUM strip.

Hope this doesn't sound silly, and i know im missing something.
Ive got 5 audio channel strips in AUM, and i change global midi channel on my controller to jump between the different sound sources.
I want to move a couple so they are next to each other, midi wise.
I know how to move them on screen, and i know ill need to go in, and change every instance of the old midi channel and put the new one in.
So far i can only see a way to do it one function at a time.
I don’t plan on doing this a lot, so dont really want to have any midi modifiers running, its hard enough trying to see the 5 strips, adding more will mean more scrolling.

Is there a faster way? Still quite new to AUM, but amazed at what it can do.

  • Not exactly sure I understand your question, it sounds like you might have to individually change the channel for each lane, if I understand correctly.

However AUM does have a bookmark feature. If you click on the bottom of any midi or audio lane, where it says “CHAN 1” etc.. a little window pops up that has a bookmark in the top right corner. Click to turn on. Then see the little bookmark icon in bottom right corner at all times, select it and select the bookmark to move between bookmarks. So If you have 30 lanes and bookmark the ones you want you can easily move around without any scrolling.

No, there's no faster way without using a midi modifier of some sort. You don't need a separate channel strip for each midi modifier though, so added scrolling doesn't necessarily need to be a problem. You can add as many AUv3 midi modifiers as you like to a single AUM midi channel strip. You can also make multiple channel changes at once with a single Streambyter instance.

mfxStrip is an easy to use frontend for doing channel changes in Streambyter without needing to learn the Streambyter language. But, only one channel change per instance, whereas in Streambyter you can do many with a single instance.

  • Thanks for the reply. In theory that looks great, i don’t mind one strip that i can keep at the end out of the way.
In practice, ill need to figure out what all that does. It looks complicated to a no ive like myself.

I just want to move a couple of channel strips, save them as a preset for a couple of times i need them next to exact other (to make changing global channel on the controller faster). By the time i figure out Strambyter i might as well do it manually.

Thanks. For example, i have 5 lanes. Each being controlled on a separate midi channel. I use the global midi channel from my controller to change which instrument gets played.
Each strip has a few CC’s controlling things like filter, preset show etc. All called up from the controller. If i want strip 1 and 4 (which are on midi channel 1 and 4) to be on 1 and 2, i think i need to change every instance of midi channel 4 to channel 2.
Its probably just an occasional change so i don’t mind doing it manually, i was just wondering if there is a better way.

You don't need to learn Streambyter if you use mfxStrip. But I get your point. Yes, it is easier just to do it manually if it's not something you're going to be doing often.

Yeah, ill just get it done manually and save as a new preset. Thanks.

The current AUM beta allows you to save/load midi mappings per channel strip or node etc, and also to batch-set the midi channel for such a group of midi controls.

  • Oh wow!!!!
Any idea when this will be released?

Dope. Between this and the node Cpu thingy I’m pumped about this AUM update.

Ok, Yea I get ya, it is probably best to just manually make those few changes needed, until the update is out. Per channel strip midi map savings will be a great addition.
