zMors still life?

edited February 2022 in General App Discussion

I’ve been on a buchla tip lately, well, complex oscillator stuff and ting… I’ve been having much of my fun in drambo, VCV and mirack but just came across this and wondered if it was still as good as people said years ago; also is it likely to stick about, or go the way of the dodo at a moment’s notice? @sven in case you’re still here…

zMors Modular is standalone only (it can host AUv3 but support is incomplete, don't rely on it) and it has a neat PureData module that can do deeper math than miRack or Drambo, plus a DSP math module that stands on its own:

There's more to it, and if you have some time to spend then zMors Modular is certainly worth a weekend trip 😊

  • It definitely looks very businesslike, btw, I need to share some drambo patches with you when I neaten them up a bit…

    😊

  • On early awakening, I followed a Google trail through Twitter and YouTube. I discovered that considerable efforts have led Sven and colleagues to pushing the zMors gear into hardware, but they slowed a couple of years ago, and on the dadamachines site where they were setting up to sell stuff, there’s a big red note saying they’re on pause due to ill health. Sad for them, as for all, looks very interesting. There’s teensy code on his GitHub which perks my interest, as I recently met someone local to me messing with those and Norns…

  • I'm totally noobish with modular stuff... Maybe my opinion doesn't count much
But zMors is a great buy. It's one of my favorite modular playgrounds on iOS

  • No that’s interesting, there’s both ends of the spectrum of modular experience weighing in positively there; that can only be good 👍

Cool things about zMors modular: its universal, unlike many of the modulars on iOS, and its has a huge list of presets, including from Christian Thompson, which for me at least are very useful for reverse engineering/tutorial.

I really like the non-skeuomorphic gui-

  • I’ve got a feeling it’s gonna be a Modular weekend, just gotta deliver for this deadline and then let stuff go for a few days…
