Tape loops (Timeless 3, TTAP, Other Desert Cities, AK Reverb, Reelbus, Pro-Q, SideKick & Fac Alteza)

As I'm getting more into the world of Tape Loops, I got a bunch of cassettes from a guy who sold his vast collection of tapes, which I know none of the albums but when it comes to a few seconds of loops, it doesn't matter that much.
So I randomly cut 9" of one of the tapes, both A/B sides were nice enough, so I plugged a tape player to my iPad, and using AUM running a bunch of apps (List in description) - I quickly made a few jams.

  • Absolutely love this!!

  • Sounds so good! And I really dig the idea of the hands-on aspect of the loop-making

Been trawling local second-hand shops for a cassette player, for a while now, but to no avail. The shop-keepers think I'm mad for wanting one, and try pointing me towards mp3 players ;) Will keep searching.

I hear that. It's such a niche thing, that when the guy that sold me these tapes asked why did I want them in the first place, I told him that I got a cassette player for my folks and thy want some tapes to listen to. Telling a 60 year old guy "Oh well, I want to cut the tapes and make them loop for a while while I add effects to it" would come out not well :)
Except the modded player I got, I bought 2 other players (one is the one in the beginning of the video) for about $25 each on Amazon brand new. Maybe you could just order one online.

That's great! Originally I wanted to write "A grown up nerd" but that's actually who I am.. Still, I bet though that you'd find it cool but he wouldn't.

  • Sounds like something from a horror movie.

Indeed! The confusion for me is heightened as I'm trying to explain it to the shop-owners in my best (Not really great) Spanish ;)

I might have to go the online route. I just wanted something that already had some wear baked in.

    Cheers!

Haha! I'm a 50-year-old guy who also had experience cutting tape (for editing, not loops), with razor-blades and chalk. Razor-blades and white-powder in a studio. Seems legit ;)
